Most people I know say “Aw, Snap.” Or used to, at least. No one really says it anymore, which makes me hate my current username. C’est la vie. I did indeed have you (or at least your username) in mind in that thread; it just seemed to fit the topic at hand well. For the avoidance of doubt, I wasn’t implying any connection between you personally and a Venus flytrap. I do still remember the FUB/AS connection too, which is a mnor miracle considering that my name recollection skills are pretty crap frankly. And, FTR, I’m male. ---

The first time I did a vanity search, I found a thread called something like “What have Dopers done for you lately?” **Cervaise** had posted “I’ll always be grateful to Larry Mudd for the reacharound.” I had to look it up. :eek: I still wonder if I had said something in another thread that made it topical, or if it was just out of the blue? I don’t do vanity searches anymore. ---

I’ll admit to doing vanity searches on a fairly regular basis. Usually it’s in response to something I’ve already posted, but occasionally someone (most often **Cerowyn** writing about our rampages through Tokyo) brings up my name in a thread. I was momentarily flattered to see my name mentioned in the “Future of Human Evolution?” thread, but then found out they were just talking about space flight. **Amp** , you can do vanity searches by using wildcards (_Amp_); unfortunately you’ll also pick up every other word with the letters “amp” appearing consecutively in them (“amplify”, “tramp”, “rampart” and so forth). I used to use this back when I was “jr8” – but then “jr8” doesn’t usually appear in commonly recurring words. Them’s the breaks. ---
