Wow, clearly some of y’all are unfamiliar with the enormous, and truly insane, Harry Potter online fandom. Those people lurve Snape and lurve Draco. Only some of them think they’re married to Snape on the astral plane, though. Fortunately for humanity. I’m kind of obsessed with fandom as an internet phenomenon and subculture and the Harry Potter fandom provides me with endless hours of entertainment and wtfery. I find Alan Rickman hot, but not as Severus Snape. He’s a bit greasy-looking for me in that role. I also used to find Christopher Walken incredibly hot. For what it’s worth, I’m a 33-year-old female. ---

Me too, in a ‘things I dare not admit to’ kind of way. It makes me feel sick and wrong, but I can’t help it. I blame most of it on Alan Rickman. ---

I found that video very disturbing, although not because of Rickman. I watched a lot of MTV in the early '90s, and some of the imagery in this Texas video brought up rather unfortunate associations. I’ll spare the innocent or unwilling my dark thought processes by using a spoiler box. [spoiler]Okay, we’ve got a young woman snuggling much older man, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but the woman is wrapped in a blanket, the older man is patting her head in a rather paternal way, they’re in a luxury automobile, the police (okay, probably the paparazzi, but I thought it was the police) are in pursuit… …Oh my goodness it’s the sequel to [Janie’s Got a Gun](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVKdLQnfSJs). Poor Janie, in a confused attempt to deal with her not insignificant daddy issues, has apparently taken to cruising for older men. And maybe killing them; that would explain why the police are after her again. Rickman was lucky to get out alive. Maybe she was impressed by his tango skills, or the fact that he was apparently hitchhiking in a suit.[/spoiler] ---

Well, I no longer look for meaning in any music video or rock song, but I couldn’t figure out if she was supposed to be with a father figure or if she was some kind of trophy for Rickman. At first he seems paternal to her (no kissing in the car), but then at the gas station–whoa! Also, to whom is she referring in the song–is Alan now the man she’s with who treats her “right” or is he the one who lost her? I dunno. I was too distracted by Mr Rickman to care, much. ---

I think the ending is supposed to be a twist. Initially the viewer assumes: Oh, here’s some rich old dude with his young trophy girlfriend. But then at the very end we see that: It’s HER fancy chauffeured car. SHE’S the one with the money and fame, and she’s dropping HIM off in a rather low-rent looking area, and he has his belongings in some kind of backpack. This does raise the question of why he’s so well dressed, though. Maybe she bought him the suit?I too was unclear as to whether Rickman was supposed to be the man the song was directed at (the ex) or the singer’s current fella. I could go either way – they are obviously involved during the video, but they part ways at the end. ---

Yeah, so is this song a memory for her or a fantasy on how she wishes she had dumped him? Fascinating. \ That is who Snape (in a weird way) reminds me of: Mr Spock. Both are sexy as hell, IMO. ---
