I still remember not getting PBS over the air in my hometown in the middle of the USA–25 years ago. Having access to Frontline and* NewsHour *is pretty special, really.
Frontline, the Ken Burns documentaries, and the Antiques Roadshow all make this channel well worth watching for me. Like BBC4 or TG4, it has lots of gems.
I don’t know if it’s just my local PBS station or what but it seems like every time I turn it on it’s showing either “Celtic Thunder” or “Celtic Woman.” Or some Riverdance clone. I think I’d rather have the Irish PBS feed, ironically.
They’re in pledge season again.
If they are anything like my PBS station (WETA) you will soon get a call, and then a letter, then some more letters, then maybe some more calls, followed by some letters, explaining that you are stealing if you watch PBS without donating.
