I wasn’t expecting to get in. I felt that my interview went poorly, and that I didn’t come across as well as I should have. But I still got in! So, starting in June, I’ll be spending 2 years teaching something (probably high school math or physics) to a bunch of kinds in a low-income school district. My first choices for placement were New Orleans, Houston, and Atlanta. I’ll know in January where I end up. This program is extremely selective: out of the 14,000 applicants last year, only 1,700 matriculated into the corps. So now I get to strut around for a few weeks and feel like I’ve made something of myself. Yeaaaa! ---

Congratulations from me too, and thank you for doing this! Odds are good that you’re going to be able to help more than one person change his or her life completely. ---
