I cried about every 15min, including the hour before it watching Dateline. Right now my eyes are _burning_ and my throat hurts. But that telethon was, quite simply, _ **amazing** _. Meanwhile, has anyone else noticed that Bono is slowly turning into Robin Williams? ---

So Tom Petty is now Willie Nelson, Bono is Robin Williams, Eddie Vedder has short hair, Jon Bon Jovi sings torchers…Did something happen to the space-time continuum? Wondered who that person was “talking along” with America the Beautiful, then saw it was Muhammad Ali. Poor sod. It was simulcast on Star 98.7 out here. Who were those two women talking about the teacher who was saved? And I’m just as curious as others to know who the Slash-looking guy was. Long shot: Was it Jeff Lynne, late of the Traveling Wilburys (yes, I know that’s not all he did)? I mean, if everyone’s changing their looks… ---

OK, I don’t know anything about contemporary music but I’d have to say that (1) I was really impressed by Eddie Vedder. He’s in Pearl Jam, right? and (2) neither of the two guys singing the Pink Floyd cover (Fred Durst and ?) can carry anything remotely resembling a tune between them. I’ve seen _Paint Your Wagon_ and Mr. Eastwood is a better singer. Question. Who was the guy singing by himself w/the acoustic guitar, no backup singers or musicians? He sang a song about getting all filthy in the mud love or some such. I really liked him too. All in all, a very impressive show. And I’d buy the CD, too. ---
