I’m younger, but she was the Principle girl actress for Disney in the 60s. Parent Trap, That Darn Cat, Pollyanna and several others. Daughter of famed actor John Mills also. Her older sister played Nanny, in the Nanny and the Professor around 1970 or so. ---

While I was at the job I held briefly, earlier this year, I had several young people (mid-late 20s) working for me. What I discovered is that an alarming number of my pop-culture references were completely lost on them: most had not ever actually watched Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark. Also, I am now allowed to access my IRA without a tax penalty (not that I am yet). How did that happen? ---

my kids’ friends and (school)peers address me with “Hola tío” (_hello, uncle_) … … that makes you feel old/weird/ … especially since I am not their uncle … * * * oh … and unrelated … it’s getting close to 11.00pm … time to get ready for bed ---

I knew I was old at noon EST, on Jan. 20, 2009, when, for the first time in my life, the president of the United States of America was younger than me. I was 53. He was 47. ---

When I was a boy I’d occasionally “run across” a Playboy magazine. The first time I felt old was when I ran across a Playboy and it came to my attention that, based on her biostats, the centerfold model was younger than me. ---

You know you’re old when you find you can actually USE your age to your benefit. And then, you realize, “Hey, this is pretty cool.” That almost, almost makes up for the pain, the increasing length of your medication list, the fact you need new glasses, and the last dentist bill. Old means your idea of “decent TV” consists of old sitcoms and dramas where all the actors are dead. ~VOW ---

Turns out she’s just turned 60 last month. So with any luck I’ll be older than the Prez here soon. But it won’t be my first time. Obama is also younger than I am, but not as much as Harris is. ---
