I got a nicely shaped cranium… just came back from the barber. Realized I got a nice looking head… can’t stop feeling the contours of my coconut… very cool. ---

I really don’t have anything interesting to say about your cranium. I just figured it might be a nice surprise for someone to have their thread revived after it has seemingly been dead for 7 days. If it dies this time, at least I know I did my part. ---

I’ve noticed that I have a small lump on my forehead. It has been diagnosed as a fatty deposit (Lipoma to be exact). It doesn’t hurt, but it is quite noticable on my forehead, just above my left eyebrow, about halfway betwen my hairline and eyebrow. Has anybody ever had this type of thing before and also had it removed? If so, what was the procedure and did it hurt much? ---

One day I got ambitious, and went to it with shaving cream and a razor. I have very thick hair, and shaving my scalp did not go well. It took about 1/2 hour, and by the time I finished I had blood running down my head face neck and back. My head was bright red and irritated for 2 days, and it hurt to even rest it on a pillow. In a nutshell, it sucked. I did like it once the redness and pain went away. But nowhere near being worth it. ---

With the local, it didn’t hurt a bit, and even after the local wore off it only ached slightly for about a day. I went right to work from the surgery, which only took about 30 minutes. However, it did leave a scar about an inch long, that has faded over time, but is still noticable. It really isn’t any big deal on my arm, but I don’t know if I’d want it on my face. ---

I can’t imagine myself with a shaved scalp, either. I have an oddly shaped head. It’s got funny lumps all over, and a big, almost perfectly flat spot in the back. This must be where the doctor dropped me on my head when I was born. I am a phrenologist’s nightmare. I don’t think I’ll be shaving my head anytime soon, lest I provide someone with concrete proof of my extraterrestrial origins. I also have a strange red thing, kind of like a mole, just over my left ear. I hit it with my brush sometimes, and it hurts. It seems to have gone down some as of late, but it’s still there. I had to dig through my long raven locks for over fifteen minutes before I could even find it. Perhaps I should shave my head, just to make sure it’s nothing to be concerned about… ---

Oh, I hope I never have to shave my head. I have a ridge running down the middle of it–just like a Sleestak. Okay, not that bad, but still… I also have red hair, so when it started to grow back, I’d look like a fuzzy peach. ---

I’m losing my hair naturally, faster than any reasonable person would like. Especially me. So I guess I’ll see what my head looks like all too soon. I suspect it looks just as goofy as it does with my hair on it. I have STUPID STUPID STUPID hair, and I HATE it. It doesn’t do anything except annoy me! But shaving it off, or shortening it will only make me look goofy, but with a high maintenance head! D’oh! And growing it back will just make me look even worse still… Argh… ---

Stupid is exactly what my hair is, but if I cut it short (as a woman nearing 40, shaving my head is not, alas, an option) it all stands up. If I grow it long, it hangs in dreary, uneven wisps. I’ve always thought that if I started balding, I’d shave my head rather than try to hide it, or deal with that awkward in-between state. Alas, it turns out I’ve hit that stage. ACK! Thanks to Mouthbreather for the warning about the soreness. in my late teens I shaved my armpits with an electric hairtrimmer (curiosity), and the stubble really bothered me for weeks. I can see how head stubble/soreness might make it tough for me to sleep. I guess I’ll have to schedule it carefully, if I do it at all. As regards removing lipomas – it’s quick, easy, and “relatively painless” – the things peel out fairly easily. I remember in medical school we had a surgical patient with dozens of them all over her body, and for once, the students got to practice technique to their heart’s content. The patient was under local anesthesia, and talked with us as we did it… it was almost like an easter egg hunt. Aside from the possibility of a scar, I wouldn’t worry too much, if I understand your description correctly, there are no significant nerves or blood vessels to worry about in that locaation, and it heals fairly quickly. Still, “if it ain’t broke…” [I have a 3x2x1 cm lipoma on my left forearm, and never bothered to do anything about it. Though I’ll admit that once every few years, I’m briefly tempted do it myself, on the spot – you think strange things after three days withouts sleep. That should tell you how easy it is] and no, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME KIDDIES!
