Speaking of scoring dates in awkward ways - I had an actor friend who did a gig as a body double for a sex scene (yeah, look closely, often it’s not the star all nekkid and humping). Anywho, after shooting the scene where they were naked and grinding, he asked the girl out and she said yes! Strange world. ---

When I was in animation school at Sheridan College, we had life-drawing classes, with nude models. The models were of every age and description\*, but there was one exceedingly cute blonde I was quite taken with. I couldn’t see a way to connect with her – going up to her after the session would have been creepy at the least – but I didn’t forget her. About a week later I was standing on a crowded bus leaving the college when I heard a voice say Hi. I turned and looked. There was a blonde girl I didn’t recognize. She said, “Don’t you recognize me with my clothes on?” I must have given her my best confused look, because then she explained that she was the model in the art class. We chatted for a bit. I don’t remember what happened next; I must have gotten to the train station or something and everyone on the bus went their separate ways… thinking about it now it might have been an opportunity… A little later, though, I met my first actual girlfriend (also cute and blonde). \*And the ones that were the best to draw weren’t necessarily the gorgeous ones that you’d be attracted to. Then again, when you’re drawing in what I call The Art State of Mind, though, everything else vanishes, even sexual attraction.
