I just started watching The Tudors - Great show!

Not just that, but the armor that Henry and his courtiers would have worn in the tournament would not have been the polished bare-metal type that is offered by modern armorers, as expensive as that is to begin with. These nobles would have been wearing extremely elaborate suits of etched, gilded armor incorporating all kinds of insanely intricate designs, inlaid with precious metals and a lot of fancy rolled edges, fluting and other fine metalworking. Stuff like this. To replicate that kind of armor would indeed cost a fortune. However I’m still convinced they could have at least made the aluminum armor that the actors wore in the show to be a little more closely-fitting. In the joust scenes it really looked like it was haphazardly thrown together and not fitted properly at all.
