# I keep thinking it's still 2003!

I know it’s a bit late to be stuck in the wrong year, but I keep seeing doper’s join years ‘2003’ and then thinking “he/she’s relatively new”

Last week I was writing the date and I actually crossed out 2004 because it looked wrong.
But then, 2003 didn’t look right either.
It took me a while to decide that it was indeed 2004. I actually had to ask someone, to be sure.

I’ve been having the same problem lately.
But I keep thinking its 2002. Maybe I can blame that on the cold I have. Yeah, that’s it.

I went with my friend to the pool club last week. She wasn’t a member so she filled in the forms to sign up. While doing this she turned to me and asked “erm…what year is it?”

I’ve finally started to get the year right. Remembering what month it is - Forget it. My days all kind of mesh into one seeing as I don’t really ever have anything to actually do. The only reason I actually need to know what day of the week it is, is that I have practice (ultimate frisbee) on Wednesdays, and always go out drinking on Thursdays. Otherwise, its all the same to me…

Ever since October 20th, 1988 I have thought that it is October 20th, 1988.
That makes no sence, but to explain my meaning as best I can:
Anytime for the last 16 years that I’ve had to write a date on anything (checks, paperwork, even greeting cards), my initial reaction is to write
“10/20/88” or sometimes just “10/20”.
I know that’s not the correct date, and I know that’s a compulsion. I stop myself and then spend a second or two remembering the_real_ date.
I’ve always thought it was a little bizarre.
BTW, as far as I can remember 10/20 has no signifagance in my life. The 21st is my Granny’s birthday, but that’s as close as it comes.

That sounds odd, **Sami41**.
If this was a movie, it would probably signify that it really is 20 october 1988, and that you are either in coma or dreaming that it is 2004. Everything thereafter hasn’t really happened: no fall of the Eastern bloc, no ‘2001’, no Internet. It would all be a product of your imagination, which your subconscious would somehow remember and keep telling you in this way.
However, I can assure you that it really is 2004, so that won’t wash.
Of course in your imagination everyone would tell you that it would really be real. Nonetheless you can believe me, I am a very trustworthy figment.

Please be assured that you are the most trustworthy figment that I’ve met all day ( both days: 10/20 and 5/21).
I like your movie/my imagination theory, but alas, I’m not creative enough to imagine–or even dream–any of those things. So, they must be real. And, it must be 2004.
And the Cubs must have made the playoffs last year. If I had imagined or dreamt that they would have gone all the way. That error at short _after_ the Bartman ball would have never happened.
And, I’d have won the powerball last Wednesday–of course I’d share 🙂 .
And I’d think it’s pretty improbable that I could imagine a place like SDMB, even in a coma, psychotic, on drugs, drunk pr all of the above.
As my buddy Coach likes to say, “You can’t fake fun like this.” So it’s gotta be real.
