I’m a preschool daycare teacher. The earliest memory some of these kids have is _last winter_. They were born \*after \*Saddam was captured. Now that’s a disparity. I’d give a pass to the reporter. She’s says “I’m in this job so I should seem older, competent, and experienced, but I’m really just a kid. It’s remarkable that I remember Clinton’s inauguration, I’m that young.” ETA: Said it before, but…I’m tired of it when I sing an old song (70s, 80s, w/e) and an old guy goes “You know this song? How you could know it?” and I’m like “It’s playing _right now_. Why would you think it didn’t play yesterday, the day before, last week, etc?” I’d rant more but I’m off to the gym :: puts Beatles on Ipod:: ---

Another indicator of the way age works. I was born in 1945. The first presidential election I remember was the 1952 election (OK, I have always been a political geek, but I liked the jingle.) But a contemporaneous memory is the death of the last few veterans _of the Civil War._ It’s amazing to me that my generation is the link to history at that level. ---

Besides being Frank’s daughter, apparently all Nancy Sinatra has done was sing “These Boots Are Made For Walking” (which I had no idea that’s who sang it). That was over 15 years before this girl was born and 35 since the time of the comment. Why should she know all the details of a one hit wonder from the early 60s? The point is, she barely knew who that “Frank guy” was…and probably only then because he was in the news from having died a few months earlier. I also met a woman about the same age who didn’t know who Cary Grant was.
