::notes this for future reference::

I like to be pinched. I also like having my shoulders gripped really hard.

I hate the way canker sores feel, but I love it when you take a swig of mouthwash with one. It makes it feel like it’s on fire, but at the same time it feels so _good_. And afterwards, it actually numbs the spot for a while. Hey, I can be masochistic too 🆒 .

Or what about scratching a mosquito bite until it bleeds, then putting Benadryl Anti-histamine gel on? It stings and feels soooooo good!

I like being uncomfortably cold. Especially outside at night. Hey, it makes star gazing better!

THough I don’t purposely do it to myself, the feelng of having something sharp penetrate my skin and even sometimes down to my muscle is an _interesting_ sensation. In my line of work, it can happen fairly easily. Just the other day (week, month?), I was demo-ing an exterior wall and noticed a shard of glass stuck deep in my forearm. I actually played with it, in and out, for a bit before removing it.

I’ve had blades, spikes, and misc metal bits go all the way through my hands and feet (Hi, Jesus!) and again found the sensation disturbingly interesting.

Having to get a tetnus shot, though? _:::shudder:::_ I hate needles.

I’ve broken my ribs, my ankle, my leg twice in the same spot, and dsilocated my shoulder. I don’t know if this means I actually enjoy the feeling, but I can’t imagine ever being free of the constant, yet varying, pain of these old injuries. I don’t think I would be me. After all, we are the sum total of our experiences.

How about emotional pain? I seek out the intense yet doomed love affairs.

In _The Problem of Pain_ C.S. Lewis sets the premise that Pain is Bad, then takes a moment to discuss and dismiss certain instances when pain is pleasurable, and cites the aching in one’s legs in a comfortable bed, after a long walk. Then he moves on to real pain and never addresses pleasurable pain again. I “get” this; sometimes pain is offset by some other pleasure that is heightened by the pain – like the sting and joy of peeling off a scab.

Then there’s S&M …
