A little salt and pepper, a margarita and some lime tostitos…the meat was between rare and medium rare, PERFECT…it don’t get no better than this! Afterwards, a good cigar and another margarita, sitting on my deck with a nice fire nearby watching the Christmas lights twinkle in the front yard.

What???

You don’t Age the Bambi in Texas?

As a kid I was taught that venison wasn’t fit to eat unless you hung it in the garage until it started to mold. Then you cut off the moldy bits, butcher and freeze.

(His family no longer buys beef . . . they have a deep freeze and have a year’s worth of meat from each moose.) He gave us a couple of steaks. Mmmmm . . . must be what cow is supposed to taste like, minus the hormones, genetically-engineered grain and filthy feed lots. \*\*

Never tried moose. Hmm. Wonder where I can get it around Chicago?

Meeeeeeeaaaaaaat. Meat.

Meat. Meat. Meat. Meat. Meat. Meat. Meat. Meat. Meat.
Yum. Meat.

I’ll never forget: the sign at the Ponderosa said “20 oz. Steak for 2”. Dad and I thought that meant 20 oz. split between the two of us, and 10 oz. would be just about right.

When we got the odd look from the cashier, we wondered.

When we saw the waiter bringing out two plates, again with an odd look, we wondered.

When we saw that the two plates held 20 oz. of steak _each_, we boggled! You could barely see the plate, there was so much steak.

😃 😃

Urp.
