Which is untrue. I’ve said it a few times in this thread.
Here it is again:
No- you don’t care that actual votes are what cause good things or bad things to happen. Lots of votes put together. Sometimes coming down to a few votes. Whether you care about individual people or groups of people is not the point. Regardless of what you think is true, voting is the only thing that has ever changed anything- for good or ill. Vote or don’t- but to say that the process of voting and representative democracy doesn’t make a difference is factually untrue.
I live in England and haven’t voted since I was a young man many decades ago. I’ve seen PMs come and go and I’ve learned that politicians of all shades are much the same. A plague on both their houses is my attitude now. England rolls along in much the same fashion whoever is in power. With the US I should imagine it’s even more so, given the separation of powers and the checks and balances against an overreaching President or Congress.
I think it quite disgraceful that some countries (yes, Australia, I’m looking at you) make voting compulsory with penalties for those who do not comply. My refusal to vote is just as much of a statement as a vote itself. It signifies I consider neither candidate worthy of my vote. Maybe that will change one day but I’m not holding my breath.
So more power to you, Idle Thoughts, your vote is yours to use or not use as you see fit.
So you care, just not enough to perform the simplest possible action to do anything about it. You’re like a guy who sees a baby floating down a river, and says “Gee, that’s sad”, but doesn’t want to risk getting his shoes wet to do anything about it.
No. I’d save a baby floating down a river.
OK, how about a puppy? Or a particularly cute wombat?
Is that where you draw the line? Would that make you vote?
Who the shit is Buttfuck Fucknugget? And why the shit should I care what some retard at fucking shitbuckets CNN has to say?
CNN is literally the most biased piece of shit “news” agency since Adam and Eve.
Let me tell you about the story they wrote that opened my eyes.
It was about how the Israeli Army had “MURDERED” 3 Palestinians for no good reason and how evil Israel is. They spent 5-6 paragraphs saying that. And then in the last paragraph they mentioned that the attack was in retaliation, to the people they murdered, was because those specific people had set off a bomb at a pizza parlor that killed 27 people.
But 95% of the article was about how evil Israel was.
So you can take your cnn bullshit fuckery and go fuck a cactus you cactus fucker.
I for one admire Idle for not voting. At least he has made up his own mind for himself and isn’t a goddamned fucking sheeple like you goat fuckers. God fuck I wish I was King of America I would take you idiots right to vote away because you’re too fucking stupid to think for yourself. Fucking shit lickers. Hurpy durpy do if it’s got a D or R in front then I gots to be a vootin fer it. Durpy fucking hurpy derp.
You retards are what’s wrong with America. I would deport all of you. Fuck shits.
Wow, someone needs more fiber in their diet.
I don’t think you’re evil. I do think this is an outstandingly stupid thread, however, and it’s not at all clear why you thought it was a good idea.
“I’m completely indifferent and have nothing to say” is not a good springboard for an AMA thread.
I don’t know who first said or wrote this, but it stuck with me.
[QUOTE=Some wise person]
You may not care about politics, but politics cares about you.

I wonder if there is a figure of speech or even an actual psychiatric term for the OP’s viewpoint:
It is absolutely true that the US presidential election will not come down to his one vote. But it is also true that when millions and millions of voters behave the same as the OP, that that has a real impact. Some sort of critical mass, so to speak.
Like how one tourist putting a padlock on that bridge in Paris wouldn’t affect the bridge, but when tens of thousands of tourists did it, the weight of the padlocks was enough to potentially cause the fence on the bridge to collapse from the weight.
Or the saying, “No single raindrop considers itself responsible for the flood.”
Is this a version of Bystander Effect?
Sure.
Tell me when that’s on the ballot.
Exactly.
You don’t care enough about your money to vote?
You don’t care enough about what you can and cannot do to vote?
You don’t care enough about other people to vote?
What do you care about?
What spiny horror crawled up your ass and died? I guess it doesn’t count as white knighting if you throw enough liquor-ladden obscenities in there.
No one is saying he can’t hold his position. Most of us just think it’s ignorant and foolish.
Pace the drinking. It’s going to be a long day.
Reading, computers, trivia, Youtube, Facebook, movies, shows.
Not sports, not anything politics, not anything religion, not much current events.
How about political issues related to those things that you like – for example, regulation of the internet or regulation of free speech in media?
I tend to include not voting with other things people do (or don’t do) that make me lose a little respect for them. Littering, smoking, not flushing, wiping boogers on the wall by the urinal, not using turn signals and other bad/lazy driving habits, killing things for no reason like the guy’s wife in that other Pit thread, etc. It’s not like I’ll hate the person or anything but if it’s someone I otherwise like/respect it makes me a little sad and I’ll probably consider them a little less intelligent.
