I don’t get why there’s such a cliche about them tasting horrible. I absolutely LOVE them. When I was a child, and my parents brought me along with them to the grocery store, I would be one asking them why they didn’t get brocoli. When I tell people this, they get such a horrified look on their face. What the hell is up with that? Brocoli is so good when it’s been made with sauch and the top part soakes up the sauce and the taste and biting into it just fills my mouth with warm delicious sauce! Of course, just plained steamed is gross, but with sauce, it’s so delicious! ---

Our daughter, Marie, loved brocoli. I took her to a cafeteria once and when she pointed to the brocoli the server wouldn’t give her any, saying she wouldn’t like it. I assured the server it was no problem. Of course, someone pointed out that the song “What are we going to do about Maria” from The Sound of Music perfectly described her. ---

Broccoli is best in a nice cheddar cheese sauce. Mmmmm!! I only eat the florets, though. The stems are vile! ---

Actually, I like broccoli too, but only if it’s cooked right. Like **7 up yours** said, they’re not so great if they’re just steamed, but in Chinese restaurants, with all that delicious sauce, yum! And they’re not bad when I cook them either. I agree in that the stems aren’t that great; probably because they’re harder and don’t soak up the sauce as well. ---

It’s Dana Carvey, not Mike Myers. My youngest daughter referred to broccoli as “treat” when she two years old. (It was ‘broccoli in a chinese restaurant’ but it cracked us up nonetheless.) Is there something in vegetables that makes them taste horrible to some people but not to others, or is this phenomenon just a matter of “de gustibus…”? ---

My little boy loved broccoli as a baby. We found this out when one day, chatting with my neighbour who had just given us broccoli from his garden, we looked down and saw that he had eaten half of the florets. Still loves it, but then so do I. ---

My kids all eat brocoli and really like it. They refer to it as ‘trees’ and get pretty excited about picking out the biggest bunch of trees at the supermarket. Perhaps I should let them out more… ---

Broccoli is one of my favorite vegetables. Acutally, I like all my veggies, even spinach and brussels sprouts. The only thing I can’t stand are sweet potatoes. ---

I love brocoli, since recently. But I have really developed a taste for it now. Still don’t like sprouts though. They’re vile. Spinach is yummy yummy! Welby, how can you not like sweet potatoes? I like very kind of potato, but my absolute favourite food of all would be bread. In all it’s varieties and flavours. mmmmmm 🙂 ---

Broccoli is lovely. I concur. Raw, cooked, steamed, saucy, stir-fried, florets, stems, whatever … I’ll eat it all. You non-stem fans: do you like soup? You can save the bits you don’t want to eat and make cream of broccoli and cheddar (or stilton, or probably any kind of cheese) soup … drool … ---

I love it. Favorite is either cheese sauce or some of Duke’s proprietary Chinese-like stir fry. Hot damn. Also, it kills the stomach bacteria that is thought to cause some ulcers.
