For things you can’t put on buttons, you can put them in the LCD window… you can have pages and pages and pages of extra functions there.
Yeah, but there are some buttons, like the A B C buttons on the cable/DVR remote, that I use all the time and there’s really no place to put them on this one. I don’t really want to LCD those. Still playing around.
Oh, and I’m using the blue one.
Well, based on all your praise I bought one too.
Why, talk about throwing money away.
I have never, ever before seen something suck so badly at what it is trying to do.
The software is just awful, there aren’t enough buttons on it, and the things you tell it to do, it just won’t do.
I have spent two days (two days !!!) just getting it to change the input on my HD television.
After which the rest didn’t work.
Then I made some more changes, and now I couldn’t upload it anymore to the remote, because there might be an error somewhere in the configuration. (It might be useful if it at least pointed you in the right direction).
I have just tried sending an Email to their customer support, but even that doesn’t work.
I am warning everybody to steer clear of this crap remote, unless you have the most basic setup with only big brand crappy equipment.
Fortunately I know someone who wanted one, so I know what to give them for their birthday (I really don’t like him )
Did you try calling their customer support? I’ve heard rave reviews of getting someone on the phone quickly, and they will do all the setup for you and you just download it.
I’m going to have to call them. I’ve been able to beat it into sumission for everything except volume.
The default “database” volume command puts out microscopic nudges. I tried teaching it with the amp’s remote, and now it sends out huge swings of volume.
Other than that, it’s decent.
Can you script it with multiple commands per button? If so, you could probably change the volume up button to do, say, “volume up volume up volume up” and tune it that way.
I just got of the phone and they aren’t helpful at all.
They just try to do the same things I did back home.
I could hear them get more and more frustrated with the stupid software.
In the end they ended up creating 3 TV’s in my configuration.
Then they couldn’t delete them themselves so I have to go back home, connect it again and remove these devices before they can help me again.
I saw on the Logitech website that they offer a “no satisfaction - money back”-guarantee so I am going to try and get my money back.
This remote just is trying to be too smart.
Wow, Scoundrel Swanswater, I’m sorry you’ve had such a bad experience with your Harmony.
I’m now a week+ into using mine, and I still love it to pieces. Over the weekend I had to make it learn how to tune to channel 3, and that was a little frustrating, but I managed to figure it out without contacting support (had to do the RAW data thing). Last night I used my VCR for the first time since getting the Harmony: there are some button reassignments I want to do, but nothing major and it shouldn’t take long.
I watch DVDs a lot, and I still get a kick out of coming home, pressing “Watch DVD,” and seeing it turn everything on and set everything to the right inputs. I’m doing the Father’s Day thing with Dad tomorrow instead of Sunday, and I’m still really looking forward to giving him his Harmony.
