I was listening to the Sohpie B. Hawkins song, “As I Lay Me,” and for years I’ve always wondered what the small chorus is singing in the background of the main chorus. I always thought it sounded like, “I love Tacos.” I’ve checked a few of the Hawkins lyrics sites, nothing. I’ve even checked [http://www.kissthisguy.com](http://www.kissthisguy.com) for mis-heard lyrics. ---

i never thought that this little bit of information would ever come in handy, but i actually know the answer to this. i had a girlfriend in highschool who was a majour sophie b. hawkins nut, and she actually got to meet ms. hawkins via a local radio station contest. to make a long story short, i made her promise to ask sophie why the hell she liked tacos so much. it turns out, the lyrics are, “when i come home.” whenever i hear it, i still sing the taco version. 😃 ---

Yes! Thank you so much! I’m also glad that I’m not the only nut who thought she was singing, “I love tacos.” Now that you mentioned the real lyrics, I’ll still sing the tacos version too. ---

That’s actually not true. Cute story but, I actually googled it myself several years back and they claim it’s just the background singers that made up the words. There’s no meaning to it. So I’m not sure what radio station she visited or why she would say that, but the record shows the words are meaningless. ---
