Criminy, I graduated college in the 80s–stop making me feel old!
There was a ton of great music in the 80s–X, The Cramps, Black Flag, Bad Religion, Flipper, The Meat Puppets, The Smiths, The Cure, Camper Van Beethoven, The Cars, Prince, Talking Heads, Van Halen, The Violent Femmes.
Horror was huge back inthe 80s, so Clive Barker, Richard Laymon, Dean Koontz and Joe Laansdale all became well-known, plus there were tons of terrifically gory horror movies out on VHS.
On the downside, AIDS popped up when I was coming out, so there aren’t as many gay men in their 40s alive these days as there ought to be. The clothes and haircuts were horrendous, and the banadanna around the leg thing got very tedious.
And I’m the same age as the woman in that song. Le sigh
