Thank you, oh Queen of Negativity, for your blithering rant.
We shall put it in the circular file where it belongs.

I don’t expect anyone to be throwing parties for their mommies and nodding to everything she says, just lighten up a little. This coming from a woman who was abused by her mother both physically and mentally… geez

La-ti-fucking-dah. More of the techchick pity me mode. Why didn’t you do all of us a favor and stay gone the last time you felt unappreciated on the SDMB? I don’t speak for everyone, but I know I speak for many who are tired of you and your inane scratchings.

You certainly don’t speak for me, fuckwit.

Or should I call you the

, seeing as your first contribution to this thread is to attack Techchick, as opposed to addressing the OP? You **do** make a point of following her around the boards to throw shit at her, don’t you?

To address the OP, I lost my mom when I was 20, and I wish she was still around for me to complain about (or not, actually my mom was pretty cool.)

I have approximately two months before I move 500 miles away, and I can’t hardly wait.
I realize that she might not always be around, but I don’t have to forgive her for her insults, rude comments, put-downs, etc etc just because “she might die soon”. Fuck that. It will be sad when she dies, but it’s sad when everybody dies. People die. Why do I have to go out of my way to respect her because “she might die” when she can’t show me a single iota of respect, and I could die at anytime too?
It’s a constant thing. A constant, constant nagging thing, like a giant mosquito flying around my head.
This is a sample from the conversation yesterday:
Scene: In the car, “Ironic” just came on the radio
Me: This song annoys me.
Mom: Why? Oh yeah, because she’s not actually singing about anything ironic.
Me: Exactly, and being an English major…
Mom: WHAT?! An English magor?
Me: Yes
Mom: I thought you were going to be a lawyer
Me: Yes
Mom: Don’t you major in Law?
Me: No, you go to Law School. In the meantime, you can major in what you want. I want to major in English
Mom: (Voice getting higher pitched) WHy? Nobody wants a lawyer who majored in English!
Me: What?
Mom: Major in Poly Sci. It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to, that’s what will be best for you. You want to be a judge. Why would anybody make you a judge if you are an English major?

Maybe it doesn’t sound that Earth-shattering in my post, but it’s stuff like this every single day. I have always wanted to be an English major. I look forward to English class every single day. It’s the only reason I continue going to school (I have enough credits to graduate, and I’m pretty much unconditionally accepted to ULV) But she can’t understand that, so she has to fight about it.
God, don’t even get me started on when I told her I wanted to work for the ACLU. I guess that was tantamount to telling her I want to work for Satan. She could not understand that maybe I don’t want to work solely for money. She mocks me on a daily basis because I have “principle”. She constantly reminds me that “principle” won’t feed me when I’m hungry.
Then there is the whole issue with Jaime. I don’t know if she genuinely thinks it’s ok for her to say the things she does about him, or if she’s just trying to be funny. Either way, I’m not amused.
_sigh_
Two more months…

Oh, boy, it sure is. Sometimes I wish I could get a big giant fly swatter and a can of Raid and kill that freaking mosquito! Shut up already, Mom!

As a stepmother, I’m pretty tempted to tell Techchick to appreciate her stepmother while she’s got one.

It’s as about as relevant as telling us to appreciate our mothers while we have them IMO.
