Are you sent a notification (i.e. “Congratulations, (insert name here). \_\_\_Your thread has been selected for Threadspotting, \_\_\_\_Your URL has been selected for Weird Earls (check one)”? I usually don’t check out the homepage, I just go right for the cookie jar. Congratulations to you both, by the way. ---

Nope, no notification. If you don’t go to the home page, you may never know. Hell, even if you _do_ go to the home page, you still may never know if you don’t click on the link. In the case of Threadspotting, they don’t actually give the thread title. It’s just a line that plays off of the thread title somehow. The current one has a title of “[Oh, that](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=258660)”. Both give credit to the person who _submitted_ the thread/earl, but not who started the spotted thread/created the Weird Earl. ---
