Neighbourhoods being what they are, I wonder if she knew that the fellow charging at her in a RAE!G had an arsenal of small arms and had been closed carrying for twenty-five to thirty years.

Hummmm, I’m a big biker looking guy and people run screaming or speed away or poop their pants when I am just standing there, so Muffin, & all you others run from me also just cause I look scary?

Jeez, the cops would get tied of coming out and hassling me for looking so scary.

Bawahahaha

I do not have a dog right now but we do have 7 cats. So come on by and run over one, Show me how you will stop and be a good citizen and an upstanding human being while I just stand quietly in my yard.

Bawahahaha
This is fun…

So, decent chance the op was armed when he ran out the door? Sounds like a good reason for LAN to take the fuck off.

I’m very curious, if the driver had been white, would race have even been mentioned in the telling of this story. Somehow, I doubt it.

> I’m not sure why the pile-up is allowed in IMHO as this isn’t The Pit, but I have a feeling that Dopers wouldn’t be piling on the OP if he hadn’t said ‘negro’.

I think you’re wrong. Many people remember that Negro was the only polite term not too long ago (well, in living memory).

What people are, very clearly, annoyed by is that:

1. He doesn’t train his dogs

2. He abandoned a possibly injured dog

3. He does not acknowledge that his response probably caused the driver to leave the scene

4. He might not train his kids

5. His opinions of people seem to be colored by their ethnicity

I don’t have perfect command control over my dog; if the dog got hit by a car running into the street, I would not blame the driver, I would not leave the dog, not chase the driver away, not chase the driver down to threaten them, not call the police, and not cast myself as a victim because someone came to the defense of the driver I had threatened.

The driver was white, white _trash_, in fact- the LAN was at the house the OP chased her to. (oops!)

1. I had a husky that was a runner, escaped and got clipped by a passing car on our residential street right before my eyes, and there was not a damned thing the driver could have done about it. It was my fault she got out (she was OK, BTW)
2. I worry about the OP’s apparent obsession about crime, and guns, and poor anger management. Some crime is gonna happen, and we may occasionally be victimized, but try not to let it consume you. You seem to carry a \*lot \*of anxiety around, dude.

I didn’t see it happen and so I reserve judgement. Is it possible they drove off because they saw you running towards them screaming at them? If you are 100% sure that a) they knew they hit a dog and b) they didn’t see you running, looking angry, and/or yelling then you have a right to be pissed off. But you also, you have to make certain you have the right house, too. So there’s another little room for error. And if you’re wrong about any of them then you’re an asshole. But, if it turns out that you are 100% right about all 3.. then yes, you have a right to be pissed off. Not to mention the utter frustration of your tape not working right when you need it to. BUT.. great news that your other recording device was working on your truck. That was good.

> I don’t know why I can’t be pissed off by the “negro” remark without being accused of PCness. If I do something wrong to you, you have my permission to call me an idiot, asshole, fuckwad, or bitchface. But please keep my race out of it.

My own philosophy is this. Whatever is the most salient feature of the source of my anger, I will express myself in slurs related to that. If they are a guy and seem all effeminate then I call them a fa **ot, if they are black a ni** er, hispanic a s **c, a woman a c** t, unintelligent a fu **ing retard, a child a spoiled little f** king brat, if they are poor and white a piece of f**king white trash, (but if I were black I would call them a f**king h **ky piece of f** king white trash).

I find slurs and cuss words to be very helpful in expressing anger, and helping people understand the extent to which you are angry. It just feels good. And if it’s _true_ anger you really shouldn’t hold yourself back in its expression.

For doing what? Shooting a woman who accidentally ran over a dog that you failed to keep off the road? Or would you forgo your arsenal and instead just beat her up? Which is it?

It depends. If I hit your dog after clearly slowing down to avoid hitting it, stop the car presumably to get out and check, would you come running at me screaming racial comments while frothing at the mouth?

Because, if you would, yeah, I would run.
On the other hand, if you came out and said “Oh my god! Thanks for stopping! Can you help me see if Mr. Fluffy is ok?”, no, I wouldn’t.

Looks really aren’t relevant to the issue.

So you wouldn’t be upset that someone callously ran over your dog, so long as the dog wasn’t seriously hurt? He indicated in his post that the person made little attempt to avoid it, and may have done it on purpose. But that wouldn’t bother you just a little?

> [@](#):

Don’t you think this person should be held responsible for their actions? Or at least know that sort of thing is very unacceptable?

So that they know that sort of behavior is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

These questions don’t seem very difficult to answer.

He sounds very pissed off. On the verge of a bit out of control. But you wouldn’t be raging if someone ran over your dog in the manner described?

Why? It wasn’t that the dog got hit, it was the manner in which it got hit. The person made little attempt to stop and may have even purposefully run the dog over, according to the OP. So, that person isn’t a dick? But the OP is a dick because his dogs escaped his fence? I don’t get it.

Why do you keep ignoring the OP’s description of the incident. That is the key to the whole story. The person either made a very half-hearted attempt to avoid the dog, or purposefully ran it over. Do you think that is an acceptable action?

He says the driver slowed down. That doesn’t sound like someone who intentionally tried to kill anything.

The fact that he immediately jumped to this crazy-ass conclusion makes me think that he ran out there screaming his fool head off. Which makes driving off a very reasonable act.

> [@](#):
>
> Don’t you think this person should be held responsible for their actions? Or at least know that sort of thing is very unacceptable?

When you hit a squirrel with your car, do you think you should be held responsible for your actions? If a person jumps out in front of your car before you have a chance to stop, do you think you should carry any of the blame?

> [@](#):
>
> He sounds very pissed off. On the verge of a bit out of control. But you wouldn’t be raging if someone ran over your dog in the manner described?

That he’s still frothing mad about this makes me not even want to consider how scary he must have been right afterwards.

No, rage would not be my response to someone hitting my dog. Grief over my poor dog would be my first reaction, and then massive amounts of guilt for not protecting it.
