My dog when he was a puppy, now he’s a demon mutt from hell… but I still love him. The CSUDH library on wednesdays after school. I miss Calvin and Hobbes, and since my son has grown to like them, too, I miss my Calvin and Hobbes _books._ I miss Qwisp–the cereal. It was one of my childhood favorites. (Thanks for the reminder, Qwisp. There was also a Quake cereal that was identical in taste to Qwisp, but was a different shape.) I miss Robert Heinlein. I miss my dad…fishing with him, talking with him, just knowing he was there. I miss St. Elsewhere. I miss summer. ---

… my grandma … being able to play make-believe, and thinking that I _could_ be Wonder Woman, if I really wanted to. … having good eyesight and not needing glasses. … “the reading bathtub” The local library had taken an old footed bathtub, lined it with foam and blankets, and piled in a bunch of pillows, and set it up in front of a window facing the park. I loved climbing in there and reading for hours when I was a kid. ---

Big V-8 engines Pontiac Bonniville 400, with 400 CID v8 and 4 barrel carb and Turbo 400 tranny. Ran like hell. My Mom’s Oldsmobile, circa 70. olds 455 Police Interceptor with 4 barrel. Yikes. Who needed a rocket sled? MY van being in working condition (Damn you Jackson!) that Red Ford Ranger with 2.9 v6. Ran great. Wonderful for shooting in and out of traffic. the 86 Chevy s10, 4.3 liter v6 “Warmed Over”, with 5 speed. it was hard keeping tires on the rear. Summers in the above Chevy s10, delivering parts and blasting the radio. Lots of fun, despite driving 1500 miles a week in the Jackson Metro Area [sub]lot of vehicles showing up…[/sub] Oh… My Sanity Sleep Peace and Quiet quiet dinners with my wife. ---

…snow. (I’m spending a few years in L.A.) …decent public transit. (ditto) …Harvey’s. (A Canadian burger joint, if you haven’t heard of it.) On a similar note, I also miss Tim Horton’s donuts. …being able to watch South Park without needing cable. …“Oh Henry” bars, “Crispy Crunch” bars, all sorts of Nestle products. Man, I can’t wait to get home for the holidays… I also miss Tige, the dachshund we had when I was a kid. ---

I thought I could just post and run, but you guys have reminded me of **too** much, so now I have to add: I miss: Dreaming about all the stuff I was going to do when I grew up. Getting out of bed with nothing hurting. Having a candidate I could feel good about, instead of trying to pick the one who will do me/us the least damage. and also: Jack Benny. Groucho, Harpo, and Chico. I even miss Gummo and Zeppo. Jimmy Stewart, I really miss Jimmy Stewart. Many, many more actors, singers and musicians from my youth. My '53 Chevy half-ton, that would run on anything, even kerosine, and **never** died. My '56 Chevy Bel-Air, 56 Triumph TR2, '57 TR3, and a host of wonderful old, eccentric, cars, trucks, and motorcycles I’ve owned. My Dad. Vikki, Bob, & Karen, cancer victims. Whattaburgers (sp?) Being 10 foot tall and bulletproof. ---

Oh god, yes. Bloom County. Oh, my. My Jeep with all the cds in it, some of which can’t be replaced. Falling in love without having all the doubts and picking it to pieces. John being my boyfriend. We’re still best friends, but my, wouldn’t he have made a perfect life partner? Sigh. The ability to do absolutely nothing totally guilt-free. Not getting hangovers. Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and a dozen other jazz musicians. My grandma’s cheesecake. Waking up at dawn on a Saturday in Southern Illinois. Beautiful. ---
