I looked in the pit and I saw lots of people getting agro about lots of silly things and I nearly pitted them but thinking better I decided to post in this more civil forum. I think chill pills should be administered to lots of dopers or if not, then to a select and well targetted minority. Peace my friends, peace! ---

Have you ever heard the expression “I need to vent”? Sometimes minor things build up and up and up until a safety valve is needed. The Pit is such a safety valve. By venting about the boss or the neighbor or whatever, the frustration can be eased - instead of venting that frustration on the subject of the frustration, which is not always a good idea. And as has been said so very many times before - if a thread doesn’t interest you, DON’T READ IT. There is nothing making you click on the Pit. I am not very interested in Cafe Society so I seldom go there. Just don’t read it if it is so offensive to you. ---

I think you should do it. Start a Pit thread. It sounds like it will be loads of fun. . .well, maybe not for you. . . but if you didn’t like it, people could tell you to take a chill pill. How fun! Do it! Do it!! ---

[/Quote] Why on earth would it bug you that a bunch of total strangers in one carefully-segregated section of an Internet message board happen to be ranting about subjects you are not interested in? Even if you feel you must, your chances of doing anything to stop this behavior are really quite low. Good luck with that. I’m just saying. ---

I thought he was speaking of pitting the fact that in some Pit threads, some people are facing what he feels is hostility for silly reasons. Not that the Pit threads are too trivial, but that the pitters are becoming pittees for silly (to the OP) reasons. 😕
