Looking for suggestions. CIA turned me down, and the exotic dancer ad specifically said “healthy-looking.” Pluses: All I need is 10 bucks an hour. I’m not looking for a career, just something to do for 8 months to pay for grad school. I have a BA (communications/print), excellent verbal skills, and “diverse work experience.” Minuses: I don’t have many useful trade-type skills, nor do I have a specific area of experience. (A year here doing this, six months there doing that) I’m not a high-energy person–selling is right out. And the capper is that I am currently on probation (nonviolent misdemeanor). Looking for ideas. ---

I’ve been helping others to look for jobs, too, & here is a company hiring nation-wide: [http://www.usis.com/](http://www.usis.com/) Federal gov’t jobs (I assume you’re a U.S. citizen) are here: [http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/](http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/) See their “hot jobs.” Hmm. I wouldn’t let the misdemeanor deter you. It’s important to disclose that on forms when asked. Then you can explain it when and if interviewed. Here is a list of job search engines: [http://www.freeality.com/jobst.htm](http://www.freeality.com/jobst.htm) Schools need teachers nation-wide, and some give emergency credentials with full pay while working on the required ed. units. Lots of incentives, I understand. Check online. Sunday newspapers (classifieds) should also be reviewed. Maybe your city has an online newspaper, too. In my experience, during periods of unemployment, it takes about 6 - 8 hours of work a day to find a job. Hope this helps. ---

I’m not much of a help to your first problem, **Furt**. Besides, if I help you out, I may be shooting myself in the foot - I need a job too. I’ve needed on for a while now… Anyrate, I just wanted to comment that the opening salvo (Or whatever word works well there. You’re the Communications/Print guy, you tell me!) in this thread cracked me up. Too bad you can’t make money making someone smile on the SDMB. ---
