Yet another reason I’m glad I’ve never watched QVC. The only early holiday stuff I’ll accept is in craft stores. If you’re going to craft your own spooks, turkeys, or elves, you need time to work on them. Otherwise, KNOCK IT OFF!!! ---

You can enjoy the Christmas fallout without having any of the work, guilt, or sense of obligation. (Hanukah doesn’t come remotely close to being as big a deal. Thank goodness.) ---

I’ve got my little Advent calendar gifts purchased, and a couple of Christmas gifts. When I see something online I get it before I forget where I saw it. Major shopping should start in a month or so, but I don’t have many to buy for. No more than four people or so. ---

I hate to say it, but I buy Christmas gifts year round. If I see something appropriate for a particular person, I buy it and put it in the special gifts place (behind the door in the 2nd bedroom). Other than that, Christmas season starts the day after Thanksgiving. Unless the Rudolph thread revives earlier… ---

But I just submitted a mileage reimbursement for The Fellow’s medical crap, and had mentally earmarked that for the Christmas budget. And I have already bought the first handful of stocking stuffers. With 6 kids, 6 parent-type-people, two sets of brothers/family units, and a niece and her husband, plus a tight budget, it’s all about planning ahead. May I humbly suggest setting up a pollyanna? It’s a great thing: having to concentrate on buying just a single gift for the name you’ve drawn is quite liberating and cuts down a lot on stress; it’ll save your bank account; many people secretly would go for this, but are afraid to suggest it, so as not to be thought a Scrooge; you can buy something REALLY nice, once the price limit has been set(which most people exceed anyway); limit it to adults only if you get some complainers that the children will be disappointed. I instituted this over 30 years ago and have had no complaints. ---

You want something really messed up, the owner of the grocery store I work at had to put in the order for Valentine’s candy already about a week or so ago. I don’t know when she had to order the Christmas candy, but I’m thinking around June or July. We have a big stack of Halloween candy in the back room right now and the Halloween Cap’n Crunch is already on the shelf. ---

I have my mom’s present, my brother’s present, and my son’s Christmas eve present. Always pajamas. I can never find pajamas when I need them, found some with Ruddolph on them at clearance sale in March) My dad’s individual present needs one more thing. I generally get hubby a ticket to the Canucks-Islanders game. I need to get my mother in law something, my sister in laws something and my toddler niece. Everyone else gets homemade jams, barbeque sauces, jellies, chutneys in a gift basket. OH, um the main chirstmas present for my son. And his birthday present. (2 weeks before) so not nearly done as I thought. ---

One January when I was a kid, I took my Xmas money and did all my shopping for the following Noel. I hid the presents so well that I forgot them when the next Thanksgiving rolled around, re-shopped, and found the first set sometime the following February. And kept them.
