On the way to work, I realized I had to pee. I had just went, but the two cups of coffee hit thirty minutes out from work. I was worried. It is bitterly cold and I was a bit afraid of wetting my pants when I got out of the car. My walk from car to office is quite a hike in this weather too. By the time I made it to the bathroom, I was dancing as I peeled off my hat, scarves, gloves and coat and put them in the chair in the corner of the bathroom. I hurry into the nearest regular stall and sit down, dropping my pants, relieved to have made it.

I noticed that the floor was shiny. I think they must have waxed it. Then I realize, no that is not wax, that is a puddle. My pants are touching the puddle. They are knit acrylic, and apparentlyquite absorbent. They were sopping wet from hem to crotch on the right side.

After drying as best I could, and washing my hands twice, I let someone know and then left. I have showered, my clothes are being laundered. I still don’t feel quite clean. Before I left, a friend checked out the bathroom and let me know that the water was not coming from the toilet, but rather the wall. She called maintenance.

I am taking the rest of the day off. At least I was not going to be too busy today anyway.

Ewww. That’s even worse than stepping in a floor puddle wearing freshly donned socks.

Didn’t some Doper mention always carryon an extra set of work clothes in his car? I don’t remember the thread, but I remember is was a male doper and he had some good logic behind it. I remember thinking it was a really good idea.

Yep, that’d be me. Extra set of work clothes, and an extra set of casual as well. 'Cause ya never know.

And to the OP – [Emergency Pants](http://www.sluggy.com/daily.php?date=020408) are always [a good idea](http://www.sluggy.com/daily.php?date=020417).

Oh, someone beat me to it, but I also advocated having an emergency set of clothes, because one time at work I really had to go to the bathroom (but couldn’t) and while I was holding it I _sneezed_…and, well you know that expression “Can’t walk and chew gum at the same time?”…yeah. ☹

Emergency pants really _does_ sound like a good idea. I will have to do that. (Thanks for the links, Hal!)

In my trunk, I always have two complete sets of BDUs, one complete casual outfit (something with jeans), one complete outfit I can wear to a nice night club, and one outfit that I can wear to the beach. I also have a sweater or two.
There’s never been a situation where I needed clothes for something and _had_ to go home first. Emergency clothes in the trunk is an awesome idea, and I recommend it.

Oh, and if you ever need someone to find you pants in an emergency, ask **Zette**!!!

It may be time to consider Depends. Or a new place for lunch.

I used a pit toilet at one of the state parks after a hike this fall. When I dressed, my pants were wet and I noticed that the side of the toilet and the floor were also. I didn’t want to think too much about what it was since I had no emergency clothes to change into. Ick! I think some extra clothes go in the trunk starting tonight.

Reminds me of the time the guy in the other toilet flushed and flooded all the stalls.

Fortunately for me I was lazy that day and simply wore my trousers over the swimshorts I had been wearing. It was explaining why I wore dress shoes and sox with swimshorts that elicited a lot of comments.

P.S. I have since learned the fine art of holding my pants around my shins while…
