My GF is totally in love with ragdoll cats. The only problem is a real breeder asking price is in the $700-1000 range! And I don’t want a “purebreed” cat. I wonder what kind of luck I’ll have at the Humane Society. Anyone had this type of cat? Are they really that relaxed? ---

I however feel having cats far outweighs losing them. So while I’d love to take up anyone’s offers of kittens I can’t. And right now I want a baby cheetah, and I DEFINATELY can’t have one of those! ---

I’d love to have a kitten too. My parents would never let me have one. Now I’m a poor student and can’t afford to buy one and look after it. I don’t think my landlady would let me have one anyway. As soon as I finish university and get a job, I’m getting a kitten! ---

Unless you’re going to enter the cat in a show or something, I don’t really see any good reason to shell out 700-1,000 bucks to a breeder for a purebred when you can save a cat from being put down for basically nothing. It just doesn’t make sense. My friend kicked down quite a bit for a purebred Himalayan and has had nothing but problems. That poor thing is always sick. Her second cat she got from a shelter. Just as cute (cuter IMHO) and hasn’t had a single health problem. And he was free. And yeah, kittens are fun to _look_ at, but have you ever actually _lived_ with one, **Lobsang**? I didn’t think Elvis and I were gonna make it. Imagine having a little furball with really sharp teeth attach itself to your ankles and hold on for dear life, then take any movement, however slight, that you make as a threat and attack. I must’ve asked myself “why the hell did I get a cat again?” at least once a day. Of course, Elvis is a little loopy. He’ll snuggle when he’s tired but when he’s fully awake? Hot damn. I get a new gash somewhere on my body daily. He’s lucky he’s so damned funny, else I would’ve pawned him off on some unsuspecting sucka long ago. 😉 ---

This is like asking John Lennon - “Can you sing?” I lived with nine kittens in a room the size of a broom cupboard. It was flea-city, but I loved every last kitten to bits. That was many years ago, and I have spent the last 3 years with only neighbour’s cats for occasional company. I seriously miss having feline pets. **fishcheer15** Yep.
