MPSIMS didn’t seem the forum to do this in. This is not a flame nor a start (or continuation of) a pile on. I had turned off my computer and was ready to go to sleep-- but this was really bugging me. Bugging me so much that I turned my computer back on.

Absolutely and completely off topic (PMS causes mood swings I hear) my son called me at work one day just to tell riddle me this: Why do they call it PMS? Because Mad Cow Disease was already taken.

This just makes me reflect upon something. I have absolutely no frickin’ idea what PMS is. Yeah, yeah, I know the general gist of the thing…but man, I’m stayin’ away from “female” issues like the plague. I mean, I’m celibate for more reasons than just physical unattractiveness, you know. I couldn’t recognize when a woman was in PMS, and when she wasn’t. I never noticed my mom acting any differently at any times during the month, even though I assume the smiley stickers on her desk calendar had something to do with it.
If PMS means you don’t like being lumped in with **Green Bean** , then I’m at a loss. Does it make you take petty insignificant things seriously? It’s like you know that it’s petty, and yet care anyways…am I getting this right? Thank the fucking fates I wasn’t born a woman, coz I surrender to stupidity on this. Ignorance forever, knowledge never!! I don’t suppose Cecil has had any words of wisdom on this topic?

PMS is different for different women. My mom, for instance, gets really cranky a few days before her period. I, on the other hand, get cranky and depressed oftentimes the week after my period.
You don’t need to know when it is; most women’ll realize if they’ve been unduly aggressive. If they don’t, odds are you were probably being a jerk anyway, and it’s all over in a few days.

Well, your son shows wisdom in telling this to you OVER THE PHONE, at least, where you can’t smack him upside the head.
I’m sooooooo glad I’m spayed (or as my inlaws say, “spaded”) and don’t have to deal with that crap any more. I tell you, it was a tossup as to which was worse, the moodiness or the general mess of the period.

Ok now I’m at a loss. Even when you’ve been spayed, etc. my friends all tell me you still get the symptoms every month even though you don’t go through the mess. They’ve had hystros and had all the equipment taken out but their body still gives all the symptoms of going through the act, no cramps, etc of course cause there’s nothing there to cramp, but still all the other things.

Is it possible that their ovaries were left in? That’s where a good amount of the hormone production goes on (if I recall my human biology classes correctly), which is what causes the mood fluctuation.
I never had noticeable PMS symptoms - though I did have severe dysmenorrhea (cramps) - until the last year or so, when I started noticing a couple days of depression right before my period starts. I don’t track it and I’m not perfectly regular, so it’s not an expectancy effect.

I’ve been sort-of spayed - the uterus and one ovary are gone (and good riddance!). The other ovary is still there supposedly putting out all the hormones and crap it’s supposed to.
I don’t have a single PMS type symptom. Nothing. I notice no mood swings whatsoever over the month. I used to get horribly cranky, but I do believe it was because I was in horrible pain.

I’ve gone through phases where I was never even slightly crampy or nuts, to the complete, hideous, other end of the spectrum. You haven’t liiiiived until you experience pre-menopausal PMS! It blows moose udders in hell. Luckily, it’s so irregular that I don’t get it every month. All sharp objects have been removed from my home.

It has nothing to do with **GreenBean**. It has to do with words being put in my mouth. Really, I’m bitchy enough as it is without people making shit up. The PMS probably has a lot to do with exactly how much it bothered me. And the uncharitable thoughts that went through my head.
I don’t think that someone saying I was nasty to them when I wasn’t is insignificant. Since you seem to think it is-- I’m off to IMHO to post about how **RexDart** said gerbil stuffing is a theraputic pass time.

I was puzzled, too, Biggirl by F\_X’s accusation, if you want to call it that. I read and reread that thread trying to figure out how one could glean that you intended to never open a thread by the aforementioned poster again. I decided you must’ve said it, or at least alluded to it, in another thread and left it at that.
Mad Cow Disease, huh? That’s pretty funny.
Re: PMS, I’m so very lucky that I don’t suffer from it. Or should I say my husband’s so very lucky that I don’t suffer from it. Or should I say my husband’s so very lucky that _he_ doesn’t suffer from it. Either way, aside from some moderate cramping the first day or two, my, uh, ladies’ time is just a general annoyance.

I think I cut **Flammy** so much slack in my OP that she could make 2 suits and a pair of shorts. In the linked thread I remarked that I never said what Flammy said I did. You and I both know that she made a mistake **Homebrew** , however the many posters who read the thread don’t seem to know it and, since Flam has yet to comment on it, it looks like she doesn’t know it either.
That whoview was a pisser, wasn’t it. Wonder why they got rid of it. . .
