O.k., maybe a _little_ ashamed. šŸ˜ More and more I am seeing ads for what is supposed to be the next craze-gold foil boxes filled with cushioning material and containing a specially imprintedā€¦_POTATO!!_ There are numerous companies touting this as a perfect gift for loved ones, the lowest price ones going for over 20 bucks. They will print designs, sayings and even photos. People am stoopid. ---

I looked it up. I was hoping you werenā€™t serious. Yeah, people are dumb. $30.00 for a potato with dadā€™s picture, and about $3.00 in candy. Really, itā€™s not even keepsake 'cause potatos rot. šŸ™„ ---

At least a potato has some inherent value and everyday use. A rock does not. Donā€™t get me started on diamondsā€¦ ---

I will grant this: gift potatoes have the benefit that neither the gifter nor the recipient have any expectation the potato will be kept in the back of some closet only to be brought out on special occasions to prove the gift was kept and appreciated. Itā€™s pure, in a way. ā€œIā€™m think enough of you to get you a gift but not some useless doodad you have to storeā€. ETA: On reflection, I suppose the recipient could keep a potato in the back of a closet, but ā€¦ ---

Try having your prized potato cast in acrylic for a permanent momento.
