An announcement (mostly) has to go in every forum identically – if you post an announcement, it goes across the top of every forum menu. (There’s a way to do a single-forum announcement, but I suspect most programmers at the Reader would prefer being forcibly sodomized by syphilitic hyaenas to going through the pleasures of trying to make it work. ;)) And to me it sounds like **Dex** is saying, “Our sense of membership views is that most people don’t want thread titles bowlderized, but we won’t know for sure until we ask, so we’re asking.” ---

I wonder what constitutes a significant amount of members that want change? What was it, like 10 complaints to the FCC that resulted in all the BS and fines for CBS due to Janet Jackson’s tit? If **C K** gets a hundred emails from these people, there is no representation for the other side of the issue, even though it is assumed that vast majority don’t want change. It could be argued that the vast majority of people would rather have allowed JJ’s tit to be shown during the super bowl. IMO, actual polling (you know, the VB poll software) should be enabled and the question asked publicly on this forum to get a real understanding of what the people want since it’s being asked for. If done the other way, the minority will get their way if only their responses will be considered by email. ---
