Good Lord, I passed the AZ Bar Exam! Just got my letter, and just called my folks. And, man, I’m still freaking out! I PASSED! A small part of me still thinks it must be some horrible mistake. I took the Bar last July and failed. I was supposed to take it in February, but my job allowed me no time whatsoever to study. I knew that all of my law school buddies were working, pulling in some serious cash. And here I was, a poor schlub trying to manage a group home (or three) for developmentally disabled folks. Sure, it was nice, and I got a certain level of job satisfaction, but I had just been in school for seven years, and I wasn’t working in my chosen profession. This time, I took a class in how to take the bar. I thought that, even if I passed, nothing would make me feel better about failing it the first time, but I was wrong. Because I not only passed, **I KICKED ASS!** I have to look way, way down to see those average scoring folks. Woo hoo! P.S. If anyone wants free legal advice from me, you can kiss my ass. Congrats. I remember waiting for the NY bar exam results to be posted on the bar examiner’s website, costantly hitting “refresh” over and over…and seeing my name on the list. It’s a nice feeling. Now that you’re a lawyer (yeah, I know, you’ve gotta be sworn in and do a lot of paperwork to make it official, but for all practical purposes you’re in), be prepared: everyone hates you. Even your own clients. Nobody likes lawyers. Except, of course, when you save someone’s ass. Then they like you for a few minutes. Then they get the bill and go back to hating you. 🙂 ---

Thanks, all. Yes, I do plan to use “esquire.” I’ve been using it since I was eleven. Why stop now? 😉 And **Dewey** , since when do people dislike lawyers? I thought we were revered as almost God-like. Well, I’ve been hoping anyway. **Bosda** , when I told my dad I passed the Bar, he said “Well, there haven’t been many bars you haven’t passed.” ---
