Why not? They aren’t vandalizing random Applebees or stalking the pastor beyond outing her. Right now it’s just some fun on a Facebook page.

> The reaction of the interwebs against Applebee’s is horrifying in this instance. It just shows that the mob is dangerous and sucks, whether it’s a flesh-and-blood mob or an internet mob.

But they shouldn’t have violated the privacy of the employee either by posting to the internet that she’d been terminated.

You did read the link upthread showing that Applebee’s doesn’t give a toot about customer privacy so long as it makes the restaurant look good, right?

Of course it should be. That’s the free market. They made some business decisions and told everyone what those decisions were; current and potential customers provided them with feedback about their opinion of those business decisions. What on earth is wrong with that?

Agreed. And to anyone claiming privacy–which right to privacy has been violated? The customer wrote her note and left it on a public table. Her signature is not protected, nor is her commentary. If she felt strongly enough about tipping to attempt to stiff the waitress she should be thrilled to get the publicity and platform to speak her mind. Instead, she is mortified, backtracking, and trying to say she left a $6 cash tip.
