But I do reiterate that this particular theologian, among others I have read or heard from, disagrees that such an exception really exists. But many believe as fervently in the lack of exception as others believe in it. ---

(Which is what QtM seems to be talking about, not just marriage- but Divorce and then Another marriage) Posts 130 and 137. Ah, well QtM’s already made his comments, but yeah. The bible is pretty sparse in its condemnation of homosexuality afaict. Seems like idol worship and even usury was a much bigger deal than homosexuality. ---

People perrenially miss the point on this issue by fixating on homosexuality. It isn’t homosexuality that is the sin, the sin is ‘spilling one’s seed’. That’s why masturbation and homosexuality are roughly equivalent sins. Homosexuality being greater possibly only because it is seen as corrupting someone else in addition to yourself. Basically it was only seen as moral to have sex for procreation. Even recreational sex with one’s wife would be sinful under this rubric if you did it knowing full well that you’re not intending to have a child. This is why there are similar prohibitions against having sex with your wife while she is on the rag. As homosexuality can never result in pregnancy it is always sinful. Don’t mistake this post for endorsement, I have spilled my seed into many a sock. 😉 ---

I’ve never liked that phrase, “spilling one’s seed.” I prefer “shooting one’s seed, with great gusto, in a majestic arc.” “Spilling,” just seems so … oops, I spilled it. My bad. ---
