It’s human to mock, there are degrees to mockery, and there is just something so satisfying about mocking someone we think deserve it, even if it’s for something we don’t think should be mocked in isolation. That doesn’t mean it won’t just look like asshole behavior to any asshole or outsider reading though. ---

Has there ever been an instance where some newbie came in here with tales of woe about their personal life, and who went on to become a regular, respected poster over time? I almost never participate in such threads, so I can’t say that my knowledge is very good at all on the subject, but I’d be surprised if this ever happened even once. ---

And the ones with the horrible writing usually tend to leave the fastest. Honestly, for a board that prides itself on “fighting ignorance”, people around here fall for every sob story that comes down the pike. And then when it’s pointed out that it’s obviously fake, you get the White Knights claiming, “But what does it hurt to assume it’s true? Isn’t it better to give them the benefit of the doubt? Why are you so mean!!!” And thus, they give the trolls exactly what they want. Trolls pride themselves on fooling people with their stupid stories. At least the nutjobs are amusing. ---
