The reason why it’s a big deal to me is because, as someone who’s busting his ass on activism in the South, this sort of sneering faux-leftism that substitutes superciliousness for action is one of the greatest hurdles to getting anything done. There’s work to do. Do the fuckin work, don’t whine about how it’s useless. We might agree on the basic dialectics, but dialectics don’t break bricks. ---

I’ve never seen anyone’s mind changed on the environment by browbeating them. It takes time, patience and facts. Lots and lots of facts. But brow beating rarely works. I lose that at times over COVID, but mostly I can follow that idea. ---

I’ve never seen anyone’s mind changed on the environment by spreading a message of doom and gloom either. We may have different perspectives on what “browbeating” is, but I would disagree that LHOD’s posts are anywhere near what would match that definition. OTOH, HMS’s posts are _very_ pessimistic, leaving one to wonder why they should even try to make strides in states like Georgia, if it’s already a foregone conclusion that those efforts will be wasted. ---
