In [this (now closed) thread](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/video-of-me-doing-stand-up-comedy/993720/21), chrisjourney posted a video of himself doing stand-up comedy with a laugh track. As he had requested feedback, I gave him a list of pointers and wished him well. Then I saw [this one,](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/video-of-my-stand-up-comedy-about-transgender-give-me-your-opinions/993906/2) in which he attempts to parody a transgender child. It was so offensive and pathetic that I couldn’t even bring myself to watch it to the end. Both threads have now been closed, as is appropriate, but I’m sure there are plenty of us who have more to say. So, this is the place. To chrisjourney: You will never succeed by punching down, especially toward a child. Pandering to the few hateful people in the world might get you some money, but it will never win you respect. That second video was nauseous. I withdraw my good wishes and hope you get nothing but pain and humiliation from your “comedy.” ---

From what little I have seen of chrisjourney’s persona on this site, he’s ignorant rather than a mindless bigot. Plus, he is actively seeking feedback. Ignorant people who want feedback can be educated, but wishing pain and humiliation upon them won’t achieve that educational goal. A little kindness and offering to have a dialog, in hopes of changing their attitudes, is the way to go. Mindless bigots, sure - attack them all you want. I’m just not sure we should be putting @chrisjourney into that category just yet. Personally, I feel more pity than anger toward him right now. ---

Not only did he not reply at all after posting his previous video, but he seems to have ignored all the advice he was given, like leaving out the laugh track. I try to give the benefit of the doubt, but even I’m suspicious of the type of poster. There is a common troll type who plays dumb for sympathy while pushing offensive stuff. It often creates fights between those who get angry at them and those who want to defend them for not knowing better. Besides, if he is how he portrays himself, he’s not reading this thread. And we’ll see soon enough if he tries again. ---

All this thread is doing is giving him clicks and attention. @TruCelt you should ask the mods to delete the links to his threads to suffocate his traffic. Your description of his act is accurate, and there’s no need for anyone to go see for themselves. It’s a pathetic standup act using transgendered people as a punching bag - the best course of action here is to truly ignore him. ---
