> You do have a bit of a point there with regards to this one niche. They keep letting this guy [Uwe Boll](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/) direct video game movies. Take a look at his track record and then go ahead and try to tell me we don’t have another Ed Wood on our hands.

> When I say the Dangerous Habits storyline is mixed in poorly, I mean _poorly_. There’s a scene at the beginning where JC is diagnosed with cancer. No mention at all about it until the end when the Devil cures him. It was like the writers said, “Oh, wait, people liked the whole cancer/devil thing. Let’s put some of that in there. They had it in the comic book, didn’t they?” It serves no rhyme or reason other than to clumsily tie the movie with the comic.

Unless they’ve recut it since you saw it, you’ve missed something. Gabriel mentions it in their first meeting, and they have him coughing up blood at least one other time after he’s diagnosed (in the club scene). Plus they positively dwell on his smoking and how he knows he’s passively-aggressively killing himself.

After Catwoman and Elektra, I don’t think you can continue making the argument that they are just making the movie the non-comic-reading masses want to see.

I often get the feeling that the guy who made that recent McDonald’s “I’d fuck a cheeseburger” ad works for _a looooot_ of different big companies.

> It would be like if a Bond movie were made, and Bond was American, geeky, clumsy, and incompetent.

Well, for one thing. He is a bird geek, and American. He wrote “Birds of the West Indies”

> James Bond (January 4, 1900 – February 14, 1989) was an American ornithologist and expert on the birds of the Caribbean, having written the definitive book on the subject: Birds of the West Indies, first published in 1936. He served as a curator of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. His name was appropriated by writer Ian Fleming for his fictional British spy of the same name.

Also, I can’t help but bring this up, because I remember watching “Jimmy Bond”, Cia agent on TV. I wasn’t alive in 54, but I remember watching the recording of that, the first recorded Bond on film, in which he was american. The following is from

> Casino Royale (1967) Trivia on IMDb: Cameos, Mistakes, Spoilers and more...

# Casino Royale was ‘Fleming, Ian’ 's first James Bond novel. It was the only one not sold to Eon Productions. As a result, CBS TV first adapted it for an episode of Climax! in 1954, starring Barry Nelson as CIA agent Jimmy Bond.

When plans began to adapt the novel as a motion picture, the original thought was to do a straight film of the novel. But with the success of Sean Connery’s Bond, it was decided the only way a rival Bond film could survive would be as a parody. The Peter Sellers sequence is the only part of Ian Fleming’s novel to make it into the film. The confrontation with Le Chiffre in the casino, the plan to discredit Le Chiffre with SMERSH and the villain’s execution by enemy agents are all in the novel. So is the notion of Bond writing a book on baccarat, and the element of Vesper being an enemy spy. Reportedly, Eon Productions has been trying to buy back the rights to Casino Royale for years, in hopes of someday making a serious Bond film out of the novel

SOme how, I believe that this makes all the comic book fans right, in the same way that religious people find the least bit of fluff as proof of miracles.

Heh. I’ll let you know next week. It came in my netflix yesterday, I’ll be watching it on the train Monday morning. That’s ok. I’m apparently the only person on the planet who hated Kill Bill I & II. I thought it was tripe to gag for. What’s worse, is that I reaaaallly like Keanu. Can’t help it. I don’t mind most of the stuff he’s in, and I want to do baaad naughty things to him.

Uuh. I digress. I’ll get back to you on the Garden State thing later…
