A large chunk of that reminds me of my first real relationship. It was majorly sickeningly sweet. We did tell everyone how sexually adventurous we were. Except you got one thing blatenly wrong. She was a normal girl. Knew nada about scifi, RPG, gaming, and the like. Well she was English, as in UK passport but meh. Still normal just had a different vocabulary and had some different recipes. You see us geeks are just that lovable, and sex is only dirty if you think it is. Which I don’t which lead to some wild stuff. She used to get made at me for going to far in public though. Good times. I used to see what I could get away with. I also used to write her poems. And break all the rules about maintain social status. It was a time of freedom. I trusted her implicitly, as she did me, but we were too incompatible in some important ways and it built up causing too much stress and we couldn’t figure out how to deal with it. In hindsight it happened too fast; if it happened slower we could have dealt with those problems. If that doesn’t work for you I could certainly see why it’d cause some bitter feelings. I’ve got a D&D girl who sets next to me in my Excel class acting all awkward and fawning like you ascribe to geek guys. **ivn1188** , projecting much? I mean, I don’t need to speculate about you at all to know you’re an asshole, so why accuse me of speculating about you? In a world where Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel, and Glen fucking Danzig are D&D players, I just think the stigma you’re trying to apply is pretty solidly based in bad television and perhaps memories of the gamer-store types. Nothing wrong with 'em, but perhaps you have missed the part where there are people who go to a game once a week or so like you watch sports or watch American Idol or ride your Harley or whatever the fuck it is you do with your waste of a life, and just like in all those activities I mentioned, there are people who do it as a hobby and there are people who live it all scary-like. Frankly, what this has to do with the OP I don’t know, aside from “you’re probably better off sleeping with someone who shares at least one of your hobbies”. Now I’m going to have to read the thread to figure out how the fuck we got on this tangent in the first place. I did think of another venue for getting laid pretty easily, though. Some of my easiest pickups have been in the pit at metal/hard rock/punk shows–you’re already touching, chances are if you’re not a complete douche you can start chatting to the chick you just bumped into and have her hand down your pants by the end of the night. Ideally you want the kind of bar/music club that’s standing/floor space only, preferably a smaller venue that gets midrange national acts (anyone from central PA of a certain age and musical preference will remember the Crowbar in State College as the exemplar of what I’m talking about here.) but is still small enough to feel intimate. ---

[Vin Diesel](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQUEQOyIvfk) Kevin Smith, at least, has claimed Ben Affleck and Matt Damon both played with him on the set of some of his movies. Wil Wheaton has supposedly said that he was close to getting a celebrity D&D show on G4 TV and Glen Danzig was going to be one of the first guests. Mostly I was just naming non-geek names that I had heard of off the top of my head. It’s one of those things where I just chuckle thinking of someone trying to make a case that Vin Diesel is a chubby basement nerd in any meaningful way. ---

If you want to meet a girl you really connect with and like, get a hobby or do some volunteer work. Not something you do just to meet chicks, but something you really enjoy. I am one of 4 sisters who are all happily married. I met my husband while inter-tubing down a river on a hot summer day. Our tubes drifted by each other and we started chatting. My older sister met her husband while they were both members of a book club. My younger sister met her husband while they both were going to art exhibits. They had seen each other at art exhibits several times and started a conversation about art. The very youngest sister met her husband while they were both volunteers at an animal shelter. What these all have in common is that in all cases people were living happy busy lives when they met their future mates. They weren’t waiting at home, staring at a computer screen, desperately look for a lay. They were having fun, pursuing their passions, and having a nice life. THAT is the way to meet girls. It won’t happen right away, but get busy, and it will happen. ---
