This will be the Democratic plan in 2009. Maybe, if we are lucky, the Dems will come up with something better. I won’t hold my breath.
But wait! Maybe the Dem09 Plan is a great long term plan. See, in 50 or 60 years Turkey and Iran will have irridated the area, we can use our technical superiority to build superduper contamination suits. Then we can go in and have all that oil thereby saving our asses energy-wise for at least another 500 years.

Given that Bush reportedly called the Iraq Study Group plan a “flaming turd” without ever trying it, I don’t know why one side of a debate should be held to a different standard than the other.

Consider WW1. The British attacked German machine gun + trench lines by charging across muddy fields. When this cost thousands of lives, they simply used the same plan again. And again.
