I agree with you on this, and slightly disagree with you on how you define genocide, and appreciate your links to caselaw on genocide, and wish you wouldn’t be so trollish in the discussion here and elsewhere. ISTM that Reagan and the right wing did in fact specifically and purposefully desire and intend for the destruction of at least part of the gay community, and took action (or purposefully prevented action) with that goal in mind - if that’s the criteria, then IMO if definitely qualifies. ---

Like I noted above, the Ukranians painstakingly assembled documentation to _prove_ that kind of intent from the Soviet Union. They didn’t do this for shits and giggles; they did it because the _dolus specialis_ associated with the crime of genocide _is precisely what makes that crime so grave_. If your claim is that Reagan and the Republicans possessed this special intent when they decided not to adequately respond to the AIDS epidemic, that requires evidence. What evidence is there that supports this interpretation? ---

I’m not making a legal accusation. I’m just telling you how I see it. I’m not absolutely positively certain, but ISTM that it’s more likely than not, based on information I’ve seen, that Reagan and his right wing allies, desired for at least partial destruction of the gay community, and took or prevented action, in order to make that happen. ---
