And those using revolving doors who think the door must be empty before they can use it. See that open area in front of you? The guy entering the door from the other side doesn’t need it. Just walk on in! Oh, and, umm, _keep_ walking. ---

Jerks where I work only unlock one half of the double doors every day. It’s a fairly large office, 2 floors, approximately 400 people working here on any given day. It’s gotten to the point where I dread having to go outside, because there’s inevitably a minor foot-traffic jam on the way in or out. ---

Adopt the Steve Katz\* Theory of Doors: if you open one for somebody and they don’t thank you, or they push past you at one, you get one chance to trip them. \*He’s a friend of mine. I assume he stole it from somewhere but either way it’s brilliant. ---

Can’t speak to the accuracy of the information, but some of the justifications mentioned [here](http://ask.metafilter.com/41223/Why-lock-half-of-a-double-door) sound reasonable. I will continue to be annoyed by it, though. ---
