For the record, I find the language of **Aspenglow** ’s mod note (appropriate as it was) in the “Slavery didn’t actually exist in the south” very telling. Explicitly that DD gets some laser-focus on a specific detail and drags the whole thread to the side because they’re unwilling to let it go, even if it was only mentioned (as it was in that thread) tangentially to the main point. The whole Gaiman thing also had elements of it: when I took him to task, he seemed to allow that Gaiman was a sexual predator (a direct quote) but wasn’t a rapist, and when I pressed him on the difference, there was no response.
