The person controlling the meeting should be able to mute the microphone of any or all the participants if so desired.
Yup. I was once on a meeting and my roofers showed up to my house unexpected. I had to dash outside. I was still wearing my mic when I was talking to them.
My guess is that the person running the zoom is the problem.
We had council meetings on Teams for a year or so. One of our members would often start the meeting while either popping in a piece of gum or a piece of candy. All I could do during those meetings was focus on her chewing. You couldn’t hear it but the way her camera was set up, it just emphasized her chin going up and down. It was distracting and somehow also gross.
Two people I know who watched the meetings mentioned it to me. I was glad I wasn’t the only one who was turned off by it.
Shit like this reminds me I’m not a complete asshole. I always make sure to plan my eating and drinking around any videoconference I have to be on. Seems pretty simple, but hey, here we are.
Not on zoom but face to face meetings. My Wife’s former boss when having a department meeting with lunch or snacks would start flossing at the meeting table after he ate. This was while the meeting was still going on.
There is so much wrong with this, it’s hard to know where to start.
