Somehow, people have this sense of entitlement lately that if they don’t like something, it must go, even if it’s appropriate in its place, others like it and it’s easily avoidable. Or even takes effort not to avoid.
Why is this execrable attitude so prevalent lately?
Christ, I’ve talked about the exact same topic at length, with a female boss, at my old place of work. If we can talk about it at the office, we can talk about it at the Dope. I was a bit shocked to find out that my method of wiping, which involves standing and not sitting, was in the distinct minority. If we don’t have topics like this, how would I ever know this?
I’ve read all I’ve needed to read Zuma
Props at getting a longer thread out of my inquisitory nature due to your prudish nature.
You’ve got a couple of people who think it may be out of place on this messageboard to back you up.
There are 65,000 + members on this message board and a minority of you + 2 does not warrant stifling of conversation.
The original thread was with regards to the joke made by Sheryl Crowe about only using 1 sheet of toilet paper.
I know that could never satisfy my requirement, how many people though thought that they might be ‘wrong’ somehow in the amount of toilet paper they used.
From my OP it is pretty obvious that we all take our time and use as much paper is required to do the job.
So if any environmentalist talking head would like to extol the virtues of ‘only needing 3 sheets’ in the bathroom they can be pointed this way.
We succinctly killed the eco-myth of short-stopping in the toilet in one fell swoop.
You can wipe guiltlessy for as long as you need, with as much as you need, because that is what we believe.
That is a gift ‘we’ give to you, the fact you pitted us for it is by the by.
You and Troy are missing my point. The problem - well my problem - with the arse wiping thread isn’t the content directly; it would be hypocritical of me to bitch about that when I’ve read and enjoyed the pimple busting thread and others like it. It’s just that I get the distinct impression that starting, posting to, and praising these threads has a whole lot to do with trying to be cool and accepted by the popular kids: “Look at me! I’m not hung up! I must be a hard-nosed, intelligent, sassy Doper. Woohoo!” That’s all. Aside from that, I don’t care if people talk about shit all day.
And if I thought that it was written with that attitude, I might be a little annoyed also. But the OP author posted right above you with a much more sophisticated point. . . the ecological aspect. So at least in this case, I don’t think your objection applies.
Here was the OP author of the original thread in the post right above yours:
