Nope. Your collar bones are sticking out a bunch, you’re not fat.

No way, but, since we’re being honest, I think that dress does make you look bigger than you actually are. You’ve got a body, show it off!

> Judging from the girth of her arms, thuogh, and the way the bicep area seems to bunch up a bit, I would say she’s got some padding, she just carries it well.

Its a red carpet picture. Which means she likely has on enough foundation garments to stop bullets, and has everything sucked in so she only takes shallow breaths.

She does appear to be at a weight where her risk increases for diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer, et. al. Although she looks great and I’m fond of more curves than collarbones myself.

You’ve got that right about red carpet pics. I saw where they followed a celebrity through finding a dress to walking the carpet and it is _unreal_ what they do to look like that. Fasting, cleansing (colon and otherwise), foundation garments, etc etc.

America Ferrera is only 5’1" so it’s hard to tell where she falls on the overweight vs obese clinical spectrum. Traditionally obesity was medically determined as being 20% of one’s ideal body weight. Some places are now using 30%, which I suppose is due to people just being larger all the time.

I think [this is an interesting project](http://www.cockeyed.com/photos/bodies/heightweight.shtml). It’s a photographic height/weight chart where people submit photos of themselves along with their statistics. Of course two people can be the same height and weight and carry it in different ways, but it’s interesting to put the data with photos.

I would think that being 20% of one’s ideal body weight would put one in the rather severely _under_weight category.🙂

I agree. But if we are going to say the redhead is morbidly obese, then we have to come up with some new terms for the other three. I vote, macabre-obese.

Well, in all seriousness, I have heard “super morbidly obese” in the fatsploitation shows on Discovery Health.

I love those shows! They were great inspiration for me when I first started the diet. “Do not become like them!”

They all seemed like big infomercials for bariatric surgery, until one h00j lady died from it. Uh oh.

It’s funny to see how in most cases with a superultraobese person, like over 800 pounds, there’s always one or more people in their family enabling the whole thing.

“I know I shouldn’t make him 154 cheeseburgers a day, but if I make him vegetables he won’t eat them!”

I bet if the vegetables were the only thing within waddling range, he’d eat them eventually…

Seen “Pawn Stars”, lately?

Do what you feel is right (and no, I didn’t look through all the responses. I’m just a guy who doesn’t give a shit about how people look, okay?) and know that what you have in your heart is what matters the most.

I knew someone wouldn’t like the dress! I’d love to have a shopping coach because I still gravitate towards empire waists since that’s always been where I’m smallest. I think I have 3 dresses right now with a suplice top and empire waist. It’s hard to change habits like that. What’s a good dress shape for an hourglass figure?

Hourglass? Belted at the waist. Yes. The waist. No, not under the boobs. The waist is where your navel is. If you have a long torso, wide belts work best. Remember 50s dresses? Those aimed to make any woman look hourglass.

Let me channel the men in the audience and say, “Any damned thing you want.” 😃

(Seriously, an hourglass shape has been scientifically proven to be the most attractive shape when hetero men are looking at ladies.)

The waist is where the narrowest part of you is. 😛 It’s not right under your boobs, but it’s usually above where your navel is. That’s a low or drop waist.

It’ll also depend on the cut and style of the outfit, whether or not she’ll want to have something belted at her higher natural waist or the lower “modern” waistline. My wedding dress was an Edwardian tea gown shape. The sash was put on and it looked.. okay. Just moving the belt up literally one inch completely transformed the shape. It looked much slimmer and youthful.

This is actually a damned, dirty lie. Hetero men may find hour glass shaped women attractive, but the non-hetero men who make clothing seem to assume every woman on earth has a boyish figure. It is quite difficult… No, I’ll stop. It is _way_ too early in the morning for me to be starting on silly rants like this. Maybe I’ll be more ranty later. G’day.

My natural waist seems to be about 2 inches above my belly button, right at the start of my ribcage. I was really fat and so the ghost of fat past resides at the belly button.

I think belted at the waist works to make boyish figures look hourglass, and hourglass figures look fat. Although a wide belt works pretty well. Every shirtdress I’ve tried on has been far too puffy.

I agree with you, **MeanOldLady**. And god forbid you want to buy some jeans with that ass.
