I pit inexperienced Presidents who don't know what they are doing

…“the decision is bad” is an opinion, not fact. Making up your mind early is not a sign of inexperience. You cannot prove that he did not listen to alternative recommendations.

But forget all of that for a minute: because none of that is relevant to your stated claims.

Are you of the opinion that all bad decisions are a result of inexperience? Because that is an incredibly dumb position to hold, yet it appears to be the position you believe.

In the context of what I responded to, yeah it is.

Indeed he did.

You keep going off on tangents, and you’ve done it again. What part of this rant you’ve just gone off on shows that Obama is inexperienced? All you’ve shown is that he has made decisions that have may have had bad outcomes and that you disagree with them. You haven’t shown they were the result of “inexperience.”

Bill Clinton wasn’t facing an opposition party that vowed on his Inauguration Day to not work with him on a single issue and to vote in lockstep opposition to his every move. Bill Clinton had Newt Gingrich as a foil, and not the incompetent Boehner who can’t control his own caucus. Bill Clinton didn’t have to deal with the batshit loony tune faction who declared a Teahad on Obama.

As for the ACA, don’t worry. I understand it covers chill pills and the OP will be able to enjoy the last 3 years of the Obama presidency as well as the eight years of Hillary. The glitches will work out, when we see that those who are better off greatly outnumber those who are worse off, ACA will be as sacred an institution as Social Security and Medicare.

Seriously? Have you seen anything the GOP have done for the past two decades? “Prioritizing politics over effectiveness” could be their motto.

If you mean “Didn’t spend vast amounts of money on work that would have been scrapped had he not been re-elected” then sure, whatever you say.

Whatever, dude. You have your opinion, I have my opinion and reality.

Clinton faced exactly the same problem in his first two years and part of his third. His budget plan got not a single Republican vote. His health care plan was defeated by united Republican opposition. His Presidency was on the ropes after his 1994 shellacking. Remember what he did to get his mojo back?

Quite an assumption there. As of today, there are lots more losers than winners. If you see a path to that getting better, please describe it. What are people going to find when they can use the site? Cheaper insurance? I think not.

Bush was incompetent. But not because he made a choice to consider politics more important than implementing his policies. He didn’t let the Democratic drumbeat of criticism stop him from running the Iraq war exactly the way he wanted to.

Oh, how thrifty of him. Actually, he did spend money during his campaign, problem was, it was all on delaying problematic aspects of the law, like the Medicare Advantage cuts that should have gone into effect just before the election but are going into effect now and causing seniors to lose their doctors. He spent $8 billion on that. Call it a direct contribution to his campaign.

What we’re seeing a lot of are shills claiming to have seen monstrous increases in their premiums and abetted by lazy journalists who put them on television without checking their facts. When a real journalist contacts them and helps them shop for rates, they discover that the insurance they currently have is junk and with subsidies they wind up getting better insurance for less money.

For one thing, it wasn’t as severe. For another, it wasn’t as long (it’s been like this for Obama for his entire presidency). There’s nothing Obama could do to get the Republicans to work with him. They’re not interested, even in getting their own policies- they only want him to lose.

Another wildly false, unsupported claim. Par for the course for you.

If you think not, that probably means that’s exactly what they’ll find. You fail at pretty much every claim you make.

It ended when a) Clinton beat them soundly during the shutdown battle, and b) when he started triangulating. Obama has not only failed to defeat them, he’s not a triangulator. Instead, he confuses you by offering what HE thinks they should accept because they once supported it, and then when they don’t, acts as if he was being reasonable.

I can show my work: Signups: 600,000. Lost their insurance: millions.

Now show yours.

Be bold then, and predict that rates will be cheaper for most people than not. Even the administration hasn’t made that claim. Instead, they’ve said, “cheaper than the CBO predicted”, which is known in most circles as a copout.

You’re using the Iraq War as an example of effectiveness over politics? I suppose I could see how that works but that’s still a helluva own goal there.

But I was thinking more of the Whitewater investigation and subsequent impeachment ($76 million spent to achieve nothing, was it?) through to the recent shutdown ($24 BILLION spent to achieve nothing - that’s progress for you). As I said in another thread, the GOP are not big on learning from their mistakes.

Uh-huh. Should I even bother to ask for a cite for any of these assertions?

Wrong- he just beat them in a shutdown battle. Just like Clinton.

Gobbledygook. I think you’re saying that Obama offers moderate policies that Republicans once supported, and acts as if he’s being reasonable… which makes sense, because that sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Cite. And cite (not from the insurance providers and employers, of course- because obviously they will blame anything on the ACA they can to screw their customers/employees) that those who lost their insurance did so because of the ACA.

Sure- here you go. I predict that about 80% of people will be mostly unaffected by the ACA, about 14% will have a clearly improved health-insurance situation, about 3% will have their plans dropped and replaced by equivalent ACA plans, and about 3% will have to pay a little more (for better plans) to comply with the ACA. So I predict a lot more people will benefit than be harmed by the ACA.

(snipHighlighting mine)
The only “Ass” in that “umption” is you ( For those who are sticklers for accuracy, kindly stick “lying” in front ).

I’m signed up. My rates are roughly 40% less for more comprehensive coverage.

So how the hell do you have the presumption to make that statement you *lying *sack of shit…

And that right there is a summary of adaher. It constantly amazes me how many people waste their time arguing with this useless lying sack of shit.

adaher, you’re talking too much.

You don’t have to type every thing that pops into your head. Even though you probably want to reply to every post on this board, just pause, listen for a while, and then post half of what you are now.

With some maturity and self-control, it might be easier to read your threads. I’m giving up for now – it’s exhausting.

In fairness, being head of the CIA (Bush I) and Supreme Allied Commander - Europe in the biggest war the planet’s seen (Eisenhower) would seem to be equivalent to being at least the governor of a middling-large state.

I’m not sold that being governor of some rinky-dink state like say… Arkansas is really any better training to be president than being mayor of a city of similar size (say… Houston or Philadelphia)

I’m not necessarily willing to pin the project mismanagement on Obama personally, but I do wonder how something like this wasn’t required to be tested six ways from Sunday by the politicos. I mean, it’s one thing if a small website of a large company isn’t fully tested before it goes live, but it’s another thing entirely for something as public as this to not have had something like 6 months devoted strictly to testing and rework.

I pit parents who name their children “Nancy-Ann”.

adaher is clearly right, and let me just preview his next ten threads on how bad the President is at his job:

  1. He invaded Pakistan without the support of his Vice President and forced the Secretary of Defense to change his recommendation. I’m just asking questions, but shouldn’t it be an impeachable offense to arm-twist the best Secretary of Defense the country has ever had (he’s a Republican!) into changing his mind on such a momentous decision???

  2. Barack Hussein Obama has disrespected leading foreign policy figures, like John Bolton and war hero John McCain, by failing to bomb Iran. As a result, the country has been suckered into talks with Iran that could peacefully resolve the issue – what a rookie mistake!!

  3. Comrade Obama has failed to publicize the root of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by pointing out that Palestinians are basically uncultured and incompetent, which has been pointed out by real leaders. As a bonus, Obama wants to shift US attention to the Asia-Pacific and China, whereas if he had some experience as a governor he would know that the US needs to shift to Russia.

  4. When Obama insulted Britain, he did it privately by giving a bad gift. Someone who is supremely competent at everything would have gone whole hog, and insulted the whole country during a press interview. Rookie mistake, LOLZ!

  5. Herr Obama failed to bomb Syria, and now if he has to go back later to bomb Assad, what’s he going to bomb? The first rule of bombing is always have a target-rich environment, but BHO really screwed that one up!

  6. He ended the war in Iraq prematurely, against expert advice to stay there another nine or ten decades. Idiot!!

  7. The Kenyan has kept doing his job, while governors who know how to get things done for 50% of their elected terms know that only dead fish go with the flow.

  8. Obama basically gave a free handout to lazy union lackeys in Detroit (impeachable offense??!?!) when business leaders knew that it would be better to increase unemployment at the outset of the Great Recession. Where did Barack learn economics, from DeVry!!! Har har har!!!

  9. The community organizer rejected out of hand the professional military advice from a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that doing social experiments from the military would lead to a breakdown of unit cohesion at exactly the wrong time in our nation’s history. And look at all the chaos that’s broken out as a result!!

  10. The Dumbass had to retake the oath of office because he screwed it up the first time. What kind of dumb dumbass makes such a dumb mistake? How incompetent of him!!!

How DARE you post anything other than effusive lauditory praise for President Obama and his signature legislative achievement!! This is The Straight Dope Message Board dammit!!

You’re probably a racist, aren’t you? You hate President Obama just because he’s black. Well, just because he’s half black. Right? Yeah.

Either that or you’re a teabagger. Yeah. That’s it. You’re an ignorant teabagger. Because only ignorant teabaggers, and racists of course, don’t like President Obama.

Or maybe you want poor people to die. That’s more like it. Only people who hate poor people and want them to die have anything bad to say about the Affordable Care Act (DON’T call it ‘Obamacare’!).

Yep. You’re a hateful racist teabagger. That’s the ONLY acceptable explanation here on The Straight Dope Message Board.

Did someone learn to hack the join date field?

Quick! Hire him to help fix Healthcare.gov!

We would, except that he’s a hateful racist Teabagger just like everyone else guilty of Thoughtcrime against The Chosen One.

But don’t worry - once the UN troops march in to take him off to the FEMA Internment Camps they will find a way to put his skills to use for the Good of the State (after they’ve brainwashed him into becoming a gay Muslim by conducting a War Against Christmas, of course).
