I have no idea what Liberal is referring to.
Well yes but…
…seems to me whichever he was refering to what he was ultimatly pitting was not a profit making entity but a profit making entity pretending to be something else. Pretending to be supporting progressive humanist ideas when they’re really just pushing for…profit.
Not to speak for Blalron but it sounded like he was pitting the hypocrasy more than the profit making.
And so…therefor…not calling for the downfall of capitalism as far as i can see.
Pretty much, yeah.
You won’t find a more pro-capitalist person than myself, and I still think it sucks that Americans get so little vacation time. I don’t blame Greedy Bosses or an Unconcerned Government, though. I blame my Fellow Americans, who seem to think that vacation is a topic that’s verboten to bring up when considering a job change, and that Real Men and Women take the job with the higher salary, not the one with fewer hours and more vacation days.
I always ask about vacation before I accept a job, and I once negotiated an unpaid four-month leave of absence with my employer because time is more important to me than money. But I realize I’m out of step with my countrymen on this.
And yes, that web site is lame.
Did you mean to use a different “zài”? Because I can’t quite parse that.
I still have no idea what Liberal is talking about.
He doesn’t like the fact that courts have declared corporations to have certain legal rights as persons. The word “hypostatized”, in the context of his post, refers to an abstraction treated as concrete reality. By depicting God as an old man with a beard on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, Michelangelo “hypostatized” God. Similarly, in Liberal’s view, American courts have “hypostatized” corporations by finding them to be “rights-bearing entities” as if they were flesh and blood human beings.
Good God, don’t tell me Liberal and I agree on something.
I’ve seen the ad too, but wasn’t fooled into going to the website. It wasn’t funny or un-funny (the ad). It was just some suit, thanking workaholics for putting more money in his pocket. So what are we pitting again? Hypostasization of the Working Class? Gray babushkas amd muumuus? The fall of Rome? All the big words and hijacks make me dizzy.
