I know the feeling, and heartily endorse this pitting. I used to find lots of rubbish in my front garden, and my front door was no more than a couple of meters from the street. The worst find was a half rotten pizza covered in maggots. Ugh! After I moved, I thought that having a hedge would solve the littering problem. It did go down but it’s less obvious: people stick bottles, cans and rubbish bags _inside_ the hedge, so we don’t find them immediately. I keep wishing for a genetically engineered variety that devours people’s hands when they stick them in. ---

Ugh, yes. I have an allotment garden- a small slice of land, part of a bigger site all rented from the local council where I grow vegetables and things. There’s over 200 tenants on site, a really varied bunch, but a nice little community (well, mostly…). It has a high fence around it, and only tenants should have a key. In the middle are a few bays where the council dumps the leaves they clear out of the parks; they rot down to leaf mold, a great soil additive… Except they can’t any more. Because of litter. Some freaking idiots have dumped so much junk in the bay, the council truck can’t get in. There’s a dump just 10 minutes away, but someone can’t be bothered (or has a van and doesn’t want to pay van fees), so keeps on dumping stuff: broken TVs, big piles of wood, matresses, a bedroll… People try try to clear it up, but once one idiot started chucking stuff there, others realised the faeries would take it all away for them, and joined in, throwing out their own plant pots and junk from their plots, loads of it non-biodegradeable. It’d take a dumper truck to clear now. Even somewhere like that, some people have to be selfish enough to run it for everyone else. ---

I just don’t understand littering, i guess its just another level of self-absorption, only slightly worst than parking crooked over the lines… But what really grinds my gears lately is the cigarette buts. For some reason this has become an almost socially acceptable form of littering. People that would never flick garbage out of their car window do it with cigarette buts all the time. ---

Littering is bad enough, but cigarette butts _really_ grind my gears, especially in Florida when every year we have wildfires in our area. If I ever develop telekinesis, I will spend all day driving around and flinging cigarette butts back into the laps of the people flicking them out their car windows. ---
