Er…why not?

You’re the one who started this thread.

If this woman had a username that pissed you off and caused the whole shit storm that resulted in this thread then what it is is certainly very relevant.

So, what is it?

2 - The guy (the “boss”) that created the deal with IBM (and Seattle Computer for DOS)

I’m guessing it was something sex-related that used a word the OP disapproved of, e.g. CuteSlut81. Women aren’t allowed to use words like that.

Actually, they worked out very well, and then the jackbooted thugs who do the bidding of power and privilege obeyed their orders to crush these libertarian movements. Some of the examples I listed are still around today, and have you ever heard of Mondragon, and the Evergreen Cooperatives?

I’ve not worked for Target, but I have worked for years at somewhat similar places, and I can tell you that a big part of what makes such work so miserable (and inefficient, and inadequate, and thus bad for the consumer and the larger economy) is that decisions are made by clueless suits far, far away, who have no idea of what things are actually like in the shops. The endless parade of time-wasting, mind-crushing idiocy that flows downhill is completely unnecessary. With workers’ councils in charge, how much of that would there be?

Regarding Microsoft, there’s nothing person #2 does that a workers’ council could not.

Humans are social animals. Mutual aid is in our nature. It takes things like the lies of nations, religions, “races”, gender roles, and so on to create opposition and hostility.

So you have the enclave of people, and one of them is doing nothing and leeching off everyone else. So you all get together and agree to boot them out. Congrats, you just invented a government with a judicial system! A really arbitrary judicial system with nobody to review your actions, but a judicial system nonetheless.

Later, you find another group of people, and agree to trade your turnips for their carrots, because you’re kind of sick of turnips. It turns out that all these rapists, murderers, thieves, and general layabouts you’ve exiled have become highwaymen. They’re raiding your caravans, but none of your enclaves can really deal with them.

So you and a bunch of enclaves get together to patrol the area and take out the highwaymen…

Anarchy is a completely unstable form of government, even assuming the worst doesn’t happen and a conniving power hungry figure doesn’t seize power in a vacuum (which is likely in a lot of places), things **don’t work** unless people start making contracts, and contracts don’t work as well when you don’t have some group of people to enforce those contracts.

None of this is to say that all government is equal, or there aren’t specifics cases even now where power should be more localized, but anarchy is always going to trend towards government sooner or later. And that’s in a fake world where no government ever existed. This isn’t even taking into account the mutually assured destruction scenario in the real world where, e.g., dissolving the US is just going to cause other superpowers to gobble us up.

So anyway, since you started this thread decrying “misogyny and sexism on twitter” please tell us what was the woman’s username that struck you as so sexist you had to react in such a way.

You’re the one that brought it up and you’re the one who started this thread.

I am seeing a pattern emerge, though. You seem drawn to idealistic positions that have no chance of actually improving anyone else’s lives, but whose primary purpose is to provide you with the opportunity to feel righteous and moral. Lucky for you, other people have done and continue to do the hard work to make sure useless twits like you have the luxury and security of a stable society, thus freeing you up to jerk off to your own useless ideals without getting robbed and murdered by the nearest warlord or militia member.

I, too, want to know the username. As it stands now, we have an OP that is pitting people we don’t know and refuses to tell us what made him pit them in the first place. Additionally, he hasn’t put forth a single tweet. It’s all just way too vague.

He has never come forth with anything anybody actually said.

Let’s not rehash that here. Shoot, I wasn’t even involved in that thread. I’m just good at googling.

However, skimming it did give me the vibe that **Mr Dibble** wasn’t … well let’s just say he wasn’t arguing Freudian psychosexuality.

Doesn’t sound particularly anarchist to me, just techno-hippies creating a company that seems to have worked. A company with managers who make up to nine times what the lowest-paid worker makes. Illinois’ minimum wage is $8.25/hr so the manager would make $74.25/hr or $154,440.00/year here. Not plutocrat wages, but not what I would expect in a worker’s paradise.

The Evergreen Cooperatives’ startups were too heavily-subsidized by the Federal Government and the City of Cleveland to be within laughing distance of an anarchist.

Except that’s not what happened, in, say, Anarchist Catalonia. The Fascists had access to aid from Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy that eventually surpassed anything the Republic was getting. Also, the Soviet government, working through the Spanish Communist Party, worked to try and prevent any kind of social revolution that they couldn’t control, though this was little understood at the time. Thanks to Orwell, word got out eventually. “First beat Franco, then we’ll see about revolution” was Moscow’s line, echoed by the Communists and right-Socialists. “The War and the Revolution are Inseparable” was the line of the Anarchists, left-Socialists, and the POUM.

[See, power and privilege are aghast at workers tossing out the capitalists and bureaucrats](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8KpRb38Uks). It’s not a case of some commune collapsing thanks to “human nature.”

No, they have often been crushed in the face of things like the Red Army, pouring into the Ukraine once they (the Reds) had beaten most of the Whites. But there is no USSR anymore. Besides, the Zapatistas endure, and the Argentine recuperated enterprises thrive. Anarchism has had a huge role in improving people’s lives. Anarchists were a major element of the US labor movement. They have played roles in almost every major anti-war movement in the modern era. They’re unwilling to let hate groups take the streets unopposed. They were part of the Old Left, the New Left, and everything since. They act to keep the rest of the Left honest, by trying to prevent the social movements from emulating the authoritarianism they fight against.

> [@Guinastasia](#):
>
> Are you familiar with the term “power vacuum”?

Yep, which is why it’s important to spread and demonstrate such positive ideals as the ones I’ve described, so that the vacuum, should it emerge, can be filled with something other than the forces of reaction. It doesn’t happen overnight. When people organize, there are no limits to what can be achieved.

That’s true, but they are both examples of workers’ self-management and/or workers’ ownership. You know, in case anarchism is a bridge too far.

Yes, and yet feminist achievements are taken for granted, and feminist ideals are hardly taboo. It’s a bit like the polling differences between the “Affordable Care Act” and “Obamacare.” As I mentioned before, there is an unfortunately huge mass of negative cultural messaging around the term feminism.

Some years ago I was seated at the listening station at a new/used CD shop. A punk-rock boy sat next to me, and he had on one of those patch-covered denim vests. One of his patches read “this is what a feminist looks like.” I can’t remember if it had the anarcha-feminist symbol (the Venus symbol together with a fist) or not, but in any case, I thought that was awesome. We need more of that sort of thing. We need more of John Legend saying that all men should be feminists. Indeed, we don’t need me seeking out monsters to destroy via Twitter.

No, we don’t need more self-righteous idiots wearing slogans that are pretty much meaningless. In my personal experience, most guys who wear those kinds of buttons and t-shirts are usually trying to impress chicks in order to get laid. But then, I’m just a cynical bitch.
