I pit modern electronics

I once wired an entire house HVAC to an Apple ][. I named it HAL. I like to mess with electronics.

While we’re on this tangent, I’d also like to repeat that my Magnavox Blu-Ray ($80) was the best decision I made in a long time. It’s not so much that it plays Blu-Ray, though that is nice, as it upsamples normal DVDs flawlessly… most upsampling DVDs did weird stuff with my Batman The Animated Series. Just not designed to handle cartoon fills, I guess. And it autodetects wide screen and low-def content, and toggles between them flawlessly, while still providing the option for a manual override. Even if the wide screen and square screen stuff is on the same disc. (Menus and adverts vs content, for example.)

Two words: switch box.
